About the job Director Content & UX (UK)

Localised is local-first ecommerce. We have reimagined how brands and shoppers transact across borders, languages, currencies and cultures. With our own all-inclusive global ecommerce platform, we rapidly design, build, operate, optimize and market highly localised country-specific ecommerce sites in foreign markets for coveted brands. We help brands go global by being local. We are based in Toronto, New York, London, Warsaw, Bucharest and Hong Kong, and are proud to have our clients include Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, American Eagle Outfitters, ASOS, Saks Fifth Avenue and more. We are what brands expanding globally do next.

We're looking for a Director, Content & UX. We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our team as the Director of Content and User Experience (UX). As the Director, you will be responsible for shaping and executing our content delivery discipline, optimizing how we organize and load balance across content skills/needs, being the voice of best-in-class UX principles within the company, deciding how we realize thoughtful, high performing and locally relevant UX across all clients sites and all markets, helping innovate and test UX and design concepts, and designing localised prototypes for VIP prospects.

More specifically, you will:

  • Manage two full-stack design & content squads - one in Toronto and one in UK - each responsible for the execution and on-time deployment of localised content and marketing assets for country sites we operate on behalf of clients in their respective regions
  • Develop and implement a content delivery strategy aligned with business goals, client goals, trading goals and Localised value proposition
  • Oversee the creation of high-quality, locally relevant content across our fleet of sites and the types of content our teams can provide
  • Roll your sleeves up; help with complex content development and content requiring a bit of front end code
  • Establish and fortify the discipline with which we consume content needs, assign, execute, quality check, preview and publish content requests on time and error-free
  • Lead UX design initiatives to enhance the usability, accessibility, and overall experience of our sites. Conduct user research, usability testing, and data analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Explore the ways we can tailor content and UX to different markets, languages, and cultural nuances. Leverage data-driven insights and personalization techniques to deliver customized experiences that resonate with diverse audiences.
  • Work closely with product management, marketing, trading, client success, and technology teams to align content and UX strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of content and UX initiatives. Monitor performance data, analyze trends, and generate actionable insights to optimize strategies and tactics.
  • Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for team members. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that empowers individuals to unleash their full potential and drive collective success.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with company stakeholders and partners
  • Work closely with frontend developers to troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to content and design implementation
  • Think like a customer, all the time, every day

We would love to hear from you if:

  • You have proven experience (8+ years) in content strategy, UX design, and digital marketing, preferably in ecommerce or related industries, ideally with a best-in-class fashion or lifestyle brand
  • You can design and have design opinions
  • You are comfortable working with code as is needed to realize a UX objective
  • You are passionate about UX
  • You have a strong portfolio showcasing successful content campaigns, UX/UI designs, and business impact.
  • You have a deep understanding of ecommerce trends, customer behavior, and competitive landscape.
  • You have excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • You are a strategic thinker with a data-driven and customer-centric mindset.
  • You are proficient in content management systems (CMS), UX/UI design tools, and analytics platforms.
  • You have experience managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels.
  • You are great at multitasking and delivering under tight project deadlines
  • You have an exceptional eye for detail
  • You are technically savvy and can pick up new systems (e.g. CMS) quickly
  • You are positive, highly curious and a fast-learner
  • You care deeply about the brand experience and have a customer-first mentality
