Residential Support Worker

Salary: £24,800 per annum (£21,449 per annum pro-rata) plus an opportunity to earn an additional £5,200 per annum based on an average of 2 sleep-ins per week

Location: Barry, Vale of Glamorgan

Contract/Hours: Fixed Terms Contract - 10 months - 32 hours per week (working pattern is 5 days out of 7 including evening, weekends with a set weekend off every 4 weeks)

A bit about the role

Our Residential Support Workers provide a compassionate and individualized care to one young person with a physical disability.

You'll ensure they have a caring and supporting environment, which will enable you to build trusting relationships with both the young person and their family, fostering open communication and understanding. This will enable you to help them navigate the daily challenges of their physical disability and celebrate their achievements, whilst developing their social skills and independence.

You will ensure their wellbeing is prioritised by delivering personalised care, guidance and advocacy. It is key that they stay safe and healthy and can reach their full potential.

We offer an in-depth induction process and training. Alongside this, we will enrol you in the qualifications which you need to work in the industry. Regular supervision with your line manager, team meetings etc. will ensure you feel part of our team.

About the service

Ty Wyth is a purpose built long-term solo placement, for one young person, who requires support with their physical disability. The service provides support to the young person up to the age of 18 years old.

Our model will provide an environment where they will receive positive experiences of reliable, consistent parenting through providing specific and structured care, with very clear consistent boundaries.

You'll be working within a supportive 2:1 ratio, with your Registered Manager, Team Leader, fellow Residential Support Workers there every step of the way to guide and assist you.

How you'll help to create brighter futures

  • Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing and managing risk
  • Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports
  • Attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc.
  • Supporting with taking part in fun activities, learn new skills and work towards independence
  • Supporting with personal care, communication, administration of medication and clinical procedures

Let's talk about you

Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We are looking for someone with a 'can do' attitude to join our team. Ideally you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a Residential setting
  • Experience of supporting people with physical disabilities
  • Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with the young person and their families
  • Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting
  • Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role
  • Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years of commencing employment with us, full support will be provided by us.
  • Driving license with insurance (desirable)
