Senior Research Biologist / Station Manager Where the Chemistry Happens…We are looking for a Senior Research Biologist / Station Manager like you to provide leadership and manage all aspects of research farm and cross portfolio / cross crop research program (Herbicide, Fungicide, Insecticide, FCC). This includes but is not limited to people management, annual budgeting, 3-year capital planning, 3-year crop rotation planning, farm cooperator relationships, management of temporary staffing needs on the farm and quality of all data collection.As part of the team, you will provide management of external research cooperators and support regulatory submissions by project. This will involve interaction with technical and regulatory teams (country). External interactions may include both public and private research scientists and influencers.As a Senior Research Biologist/ Station Manager, in addition to managing a research farm, you will execute project planning including protocol planning, data summaries, and presentations for multiple audiences. Participation in Molecule and Product Launch Excellence (PLE) teams will be a key element of this role.Support trial protocol development: Interacts with Technical Managers and Marketing to provide leadership as to what and how the product should be developed relative to the market need.Collect high-quality data to establish confidence in Canadian projects both internally with the business and externally with regulators.Interact with Regulatory to provide technical regulatory strategy as it relates to value.Build effective research partnerships with external parties to support product development.Support product launches via transfer of technical knowledge to Tech Development team.Effectively hire, train, and develop Research Associates, Technicians, and seasonal staff for successful execution of Biology trial research program.Mentor and develop Biologists.Enable high-quality field research results by providing guidance and training to Biologists, technicians, associates, and contractors.Lead and model safety culture with people, farms, and field trialing operations.Provide coaching, mentoring, and enable training opportunities for people growth and development inclusive of all more junior staff on each farm.Build and manage local research farm capabilities to achieve key Canadian technical/market targets.Manage research farm targets, budgets, equipment, fleet, and inventory inclusive of capital expenditure.Utilize methodologies and technologies to consistently and efficiently evaluate new solutions for simplification and operational efficiency.Member of APN Biology-Canada Field Trial Management Team.Understand customer/market needs to support input into global/regional research targets.Provide vision and leadership for designing internal and external Biology research programs accordingly.Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…Ph.D., or M.Sc in Agriculture/Biology with emphasis on crop science, weed science, agronomy, entomology, plant pathology or related discipline.Minimum 6 years relative field experience, managing field research/product development projects across indications, inclusive of a graduate studies field experience.Experience with the Canadian regulatory environment is beneficial.Experience in managing/oversight people, working with growers, distribution/retail, universities, or consultants would be preferred.Ability to share knowledge and expertise with others. Actively participate on teams to solve problems or achieve team goals. Strong organizational, time management and project management skills are also essential.Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with audiences of varying backgrounds.
