Our engineering teams bring power projects to life across North America in the following areas:Gas-fired generationRenewables and new technologyHeavy IndustrialWater/wastewaterThis position is based out of our Calgary, AB office with opportunity for flexible work.ResponsibilitiesEvaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, industry codes and standards to projectsPerform intermediate complexity engineering designs including analysis, calculations, research, and equipment selectionDevelop mechanical piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for facility systems including steam cycles, boiler feed, condensate, water treatment, flue gas, hydrogen, fuel handling, heat transfer systems, carbon dioxide, and utility systemsPrepare sizing calculations and specifications for major equipment including, but not limited to, boilers, condensers, cooling towers, tanks, blowers, and pumpsPrepare mechanical engineering designs, equipment lists, general arrangements, aux power demands, and process flow diagrams (PFDs)Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standardsPrepare requisite mechanical documentation for constructionAssist in the development of schedules, work assignments, and staffing requirements to ensure successful project completionCoordinate with other drafters, designers, and engineers and review work progress and resultsBalance multiple engineering tasks concurrentlyQualificationsAt least 10 years’ experience in mechanical engineering and design. Experience in the power industry, electrical utilities, or industrial markets, would be advantageous, but not required.Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a CEAB accredited four-year college or university program.P.Eng. license preferred, but not required.Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiativeStrong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first timeDemonstrated commitment to ethics and integrityPassion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurtStrong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsTeam player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectivesStrong organization, time management, and attention to detailOther Requirements:Regular, reliable attendanceWork productively and meet deadlines timelyCommunicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environmentPerform work safely and effectively.
