The Transportation Supervisor is the first line management position responsible for the direct leadership of our Transportation Specialists. This position provides leadership over all Transportation processes and ensures day-to-day operations are executed with excellence. Your Daily Responsibilities Workforce Leadership: Provide daily oversight of transportation operations to ensure high levels of service, production and quality metrics are achieved. Plan staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage. Responsible for training, recruiting, counseling, coaching and writing reviews. Process and approve payroll, time off requests and exceptions. Communicate effectively with front line regarding change procedures, initiatives and program roll outs. Audit compliance and help in corrective action as necessary. Dispatching: Responsible for creating highly optimized service routes that ensure on time and cost effective delivery services to our clients. Monitor daily delivery routes for compliance to routing solutions. Operational Excellence, Standards & Compliance – Tracks progress of routes daily. Ensures routing technology is used and routes are executed as designed. Manages scanning platform to include proper usage, route id configurations, exception code usage and proper care of equipment. Accountable for variances to plan for all route performance. Fleet Management: Work closely with outsourced vendors to maintain fleet in prescribed manner. Establish and manage proper workflow to ensure daily, weekly and monthly reporting and requirements are met. Safety and Security Administration: Ensure safety & security procedures are adhered to pursuant to Company Operating Standards. Administers required safety, compliance and regulatory training. Other Responsibilities: Comply with all company policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned by Leadership. Education and Years of Experience : High school diploma or equivalent required. 2 or 4 year college degree preferred. A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience necessary including hiring, training, writing performance appraisals, administering the disciplinary process. At least 5 years work experience in a service industry required. Prior experience with customer interaction is required. Certifications, Licenses, Credentials: CDL Preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience leading a multi-stop dispatch management environment and the managing of drivers in daily route compliance. Experience using “mapping” software to develop, analyze and audit driver routes. Ability to adhere to and enforce all security procedures. Advanced experience using Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word. Experience importing and exporting data from various systems. Takes personal accountability in owning Problems-Solutions-Results…“never passes the buck.” Strong organizational skills; self-starter; work under pressure with limited supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Ability to direct and lead others in a professional manner. Physical requirements (lifting, etc.): Routine lifting of 20-60 pounds (- containers per day). Overhead reaching. Routine bending and stretching. Routine pushing and pulling.
