About Veristart Technologies Inc.: Veristart Technologies Inc. is an exciting startup organization developing advanced solutions for managing access control, security, and compliance for construction equipment.  We are part of the Genesis Enterprise incubator and are rapidly moving to the pilot testing phase of our prototype.

Job Description: We are seeking a talented and motivated Hardware Electrical Engineer / Hardware Electrical Technologist to join our team. This individual will play a crucial role in supporting and debugging any issues during the pilot phase, designing our custom PCB, and ensuring our product complies with industry standards for electrical, mechanical, RF and environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Pilot Phase Support:

  • Develop and execute test plans to validate hardware designs, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance.
  • Provide on-site and remote support during pilot testing (St. John’s area).
  • Debug and resolve hardware-related issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with the software development team to implement improvements based on pilot feedback.

Custom PCB Design:

  • Capture schematic design for our custom PCB
  • Identify and select appropriate components to meet desired specifications.
  • Translate the schematic design into a physical layout utilizing PCB design software
  • Work with external partners and vendors to outsource PCB fabrication and assembly.
  • Develop and execute test plans to ensure the PCB is produced to specifications.
  • Manage and maintain hardware documentation, including schematics, bill of materials (BOM), and design files.

Certification and Compliance:

  • Initiate and manage certification process with specific standards to ensure safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance (electrical, mechanical, RF and environment).

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with software engineers to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components.
  • Document design processes, test procedures, and results thoroughly.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in hardware design and security technologies.
  • Assist in the development of technical documentation and user manuals.
  • Provide technical support and training to internal teams as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in hardware design, development, and debugging.
  • Experience with PCB design and working with external manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and certification processes (CSA, FCC / IC, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with access control systems and security technologies is a plus.
