We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Business Development to join our leadership team in the accountancy sector. This newly created role provides an outstanding opportunity to set up a new function within a collaborative and supportive environment. The ideal candidate will drive the firm’s growth strategy by identifying new business opportunities, developing relationships with key stakeholders, and expanding our client base. This role requires a deep understanding of the accountancy industry, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to lead a high-performing business development team. Key Responsibilities: * Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive and prioritised business development strategy aligned with the firm's growth objectives. * Market Analysis: Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, new markets, and potential clients; assess the competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions. * Client Acquisition: Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, referrals, marketing mapping, and targeted marketing campaigns; build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers. * Partnership Development: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish strategic partnerships and referral arrangements that drive growth. * Internal stakeholder management and the ability to muster input and resource from across the firm to create multidisciplinary scopes of work for prospective new clients. * Team Leadership: Support and coach the wider team on business development plans and goals * Sales Management: Oversee the entire sales cycle from lead generation to deal closure; ensure revenue targets and KPIs are met or exceeded. * Brand Positioning: Work closely with the marketing team to enhance the firm’s brand presence and market positioning, particularly in relation to the development of thought leadership and marketing collateral to support sales processes. * Client Retention: Develop and implement client retention strategies to maximize client lifetime value and encourage repeat business and cross selling. * Reporting and Analytics: Prepare regular reports on business development activities, progress against goals, and market trends; use data to refine and improve strategies. Qualifications: * Extensive experience in business development or sales in a B2B environment– preferably (although not essential) within the accountancy industry /professional services sector or Consulting sector * Demonstrable experience of strong consultative selling * Proven track record of driving revenue growth and achieving business targets. * Strong understanding of the accountancy industry, market trends, and competitive landscape. * Excellent stakeholder management skills * Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills. * Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
