F1 Mechanical Design - Tooling Engineer - 12 month contract This amazing long term contract role for a Mechanical Design Engineer a is a unique opportunity to showcase your expertise and skills with a world leading Formula 1 organisation. You will be a key member within the team and the person that secures this position will be crucial to the success of this dynamic company on its F1 projects. The duration of this contract is estimated to be 12 months minimum and will be inside IR35. What you will do: You will be will be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of custom tooling and fixturing solutions for the assembly of highly engineered Formula 1 components. This role will require you to work closely with various departments, including manufacturing, production, and design, to ensure seamless integration of tooling systems into the build process. You will be responsible for the creation of innovative and efficient mechanical designs for assembly tooling, jigs, and fixtures to support the precision assembly of F1 components across all build areas which include sub systems, ICE power unit, energy store and motor, trackside and more. What you will need: Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on tooling and fixture design within motorsport, automotive, aerospace, or a high-precision engineering environment. CAD Expertise: Proficiency in 3D CAD software preferably NX but other CAD experience will be considered. Engineering Fundamentals: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, manufacturing methods, and tolerances. Problem-Solving Ability: Proven experience solving complex engineering problems with innovative and practical solutions. Attention to Detail: Ability to design high-precision tooling and fixtures, with a keen eye for accuracy and quality. Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams. Team-Oriented: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with tight deadlines.
