Registered Care Home Nurse

Purpose of the Role
As a nurse working for a care home, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality nursing care to residents. You will work as a member of the nursing team, carrying out all relevant forms of care in conjunction with other nurse practitioners. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the well-being and health of the elderly or individuals with various medical conditions who reside in the care home. Supervisions will be a part of your job role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Work as part of an efficient team and contribute to the smooth running of the home,
- Continue professional development through attending and contributing to internal/external training, development meetings, and supervisions.
- Represent the care home in a professional and positive manner at all times and in all communications with residents, visitors, and staff.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all issues and information relating to residents and the company.
- Administer all medication and treatments within NMC guidelines and the medication policy.
- Ensure that residents’ care plans are completed and maintained in conjunction with residents, relatives, and other health care professionals, in accordance with NMC guidelines and policy.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure that each resident has an individualised care plan, reviewed monthly or more frequently as needed.
- Support new staff members in all aspects of their work in the home, providing help and guidance where appropriate.
- Act as a mentor to new and less experienced staff, providing relevant training, coaching, and communication.
- Cooperate and maintain good working relationships with colleagues to maximize patient care.
- Maintain an empathetic and professional approach to residents and relatives.
- Communicate effectively with residents, partners, stakeholders, and other relevant bodies.
Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of nursing practices and procedures, including medication administration and wound care.
- Ability to empathize and communicate effectively with residents, families, and the care team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Patience, compassion, and a genuine interest in caring for older adults.
- Flexibility to work day, evening, night shifts, and weekends as required.
