A prominent services company is looking to grow its team by hiring a Controller through Robert Half. In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. The Controller position is a permanent opportunity in the Windsor, Ontario region.How you will make an impact- Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation- Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team- Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals- Complete tasks beyond formal job responsibilities- Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies- Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly- Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed- Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis- Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports- Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll- Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes- Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems- Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity- Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field- Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued- Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred- Cash flow management experience highly valued- Balance sheets experience highly preferred- Prior experience with Financial Control- Hands-on experience with Corporate Tax Compliance- Foundational knowledge in budget forecasting- CPA experience desired- Earlier work involving Income Statements- Comprehension of Capital Management- Knowledge of financial auditing- Foundational knowledge in month end closings- Adeptness in cost accounting- Maintenance planning and control experience- Demonstrated knowledge of Annual External Audit- Background working with Consolidated Balance Sheet- Demonstrated knowledge of cost accounting- General familiarity with KPI Reporting- Practical knowledge of Balance Sheet Account- Knowledge of financial reporting- Adeptness in external auditing- Deep understanding of month end closings- Comprehensive knowledge of Ad Hoc Reporting- CPA experience preferred- Previous experience working with Cash Flow Reports- Good understanding of Income Statements- Year end closings experience highly desired- Strong familiarity with Managerial accounting- General familiarity with Consolidated Financial Statements- Experience with Intercompany Accounting- Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines- Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds- Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred- Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valuedRobert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
