OverviewPurpose Statement/Position SummaryThe Registered Nurse in the Hematology Oncology Unit, under general supervision, conducts patient assessments, participates in the development of the plan of care, implements and evaluates care according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs. Collaborates with other health care team members in the delivery of care. Employee will follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment. 4 East is a 32-bed unit that treats patients with various cancers from leukemias/lymphomas to solid tumors along with blood disorders such as sickle-cell anemia and hemophilia. Our patients are cared for by a staff of highly skilled and compassionate nurses, physicians and ancillary members of the healthcare team.Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience1+ year experience as an Hem Onc Pediatric nurse experience preferred. Broad knowledge of patient care principles and equipment; CHLA patient care policies and procedures. Ability to assess effectiveness of patient care; maintain a calm demeanor and assist in crises and emergencies; prioritize tasks for complex patient care; communicate tactfully, professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing.Education/Licensure/CertificationBSN required. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California. Current American Heart Association CPR certification. Current American Heart Association PALS card. APHON Certification / Chemo CertifiedPay Scale Information$99,424.00-$171,506.00 CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
