As a member of the Education and Consulting team, the Education Program Lead is responsible for assuring our educational products, programs, and content are relevant, current, and embed a strong Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) lens. This is a full-time (35 hours/weekly), parental leave role for an anticipated 12 months starting by early September 2024.

Job Summary
Vantage Point provides a range of learning opportunities and training to non-profit leaders including foundational workshops, advanced labs for executive directors and board chairs, customized trainings for organizational clients, and e-learning resources in the areas of board governance, leadership, planning, and people engagement. As a member of the Education and Consulting team, the Education Program Lead is responsible for assuring our educational products, programs, and content are relevant, current, and embed a strong Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) lens. The successful team member will initiate new and update existing educational curriculum and content with the support of Vantage Point knowledge philanthropists (skilled volunteers).

Role Responsibilities
Education Program/Product Management

  • Oversee Vantage Point’s portfolio of education programs (e.g., workshops, labs, standard and custom training), ensuring that all programs/products are high quality and aligned with our brand and organizational culture, driving high participation and satisfaction levels.
  • Regularly review and update workshops, labs, and training materials to ensure a strong EDI lens, applying universal design principles.
  • Regularly update language, imagery, and frameworks used in our education materials to maintain relevance, ongoing accessibility, cultural competency, and safety.
  • Work with staff across teams and knowledge philanthropists to (re)design relevant curriculum and resources that meets the learning outcomes of board members, staff, and volunteers of non-profit organizations in BC.
  • Related to education programs, maintain and periodically update all evaluation approaches, methods, and tools. This includes routine monitoring of survey results to incorporate feedback back into education materials and raise important issues to the Education and Consulting team.
  • Identify emerging trends in the areas of governance, leadership, management, and organizational capacity building through collaborating with Client Leads and Engagement and Advocacy team, translating non-profit market research to identify priorities for new education programs and opportunities to streamline programs.
  • Integrate adult learning theory, universal design for learning, and innovative delivery approaches to ensure each offering provides an outstanding customer experience and high level of impact according to Vantage Point’s Strategic Plan.
  • Work with the Education Program Coordinator, Marketing and Communications Coordinator, and Operations and Communications Manager to ensure materials are aligned with the VP brand, including visual identity and accessibility.
  • Support team in articulating program outcomes to the public.

Facilitator Training, Support, and Materials

  • Develop and/or support relevant staff to develop draft training materials for all training and education sessions.
  • Regularly check in with facilitators to incorporate EDI approaches, create engaging and culturally safe learning environments, and integrate promising practices in adult education and universal design for learning into their facilitation practice.
  • Support Client Leads in identifying/developing learning outcomes that meet the unique needs of custom training client organizations and draft customized training materials that address all learning outcomes.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to knowledge philanthropists and staff team to enhance content knowledge and facilitation skills, including as part of knowledge philanthropist onboarding processes and/or community of practice sessions, where requested.
  • Facilitate high-quality training sessions and workshops for senior executives and board members from non-profit organizations as needed (e.g., pilot sessions or as backup).
  • For major labs, organize debrief sessions for facilitators as a space for reflection and shared learnings.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Lead an annual process to update the Vantage Point Accessibility Guide, engaging with internal and external expertise and support as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the team to assure website copy reflects current educational workshops, labs, and training services.
  • Support the successful development and delivery of the annual BC Non-Profit Leadership Conference, including but not limited to advising presenters on content preparation and accessibility, and creating and monitoring evaluation surveys.
  • Chair a monthly Education Program team meeting where emerging questions and topics are brought forward and discussed by staff.
  • Co-lead quarterly internal meetings with the Engagement and Advocacy team to discuss trends in the non-profit sector and support growth and development of Vantage Point’s overall programs and services.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Understanding of adult learning theory and universal design for learning;
  • Experience and knowledge of the non-profit environment, as an employee or volunteer;
  • Knowledge of non-profit organizational capacity, including governance, leadership and management;
  • Depth of experience in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), such as formal training, relevant lived experience.
  • Experience in instructional design of both synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities, including designing and implementing highly engaging and interactive online materials and assessments;
  • Familiarity with gamification, simulations, case studies, and scenario-based learning is an asset;
  • Personal commitment to ongoing learning and delivering work with excellence;
  • Strong team building ethic with the ability to develop, motivate and coach integrated teams of employees and knowledge philanthropists to deliver high quality work;
  • Project management experience, or the ability to lead multiple complex pieces of work in an organized and effective manner;
  • High aptitude for technology, including Microsoft Office Suite (including PowerPoint), E-Learning Software (eg. Zoom, Thinkific, and Adobe), and CRM Software (eg. Salesforce).
  • Demonstrated in-person and virtual facilitation skills.

This is a full-time (35 hours/weekly), parental leave role for an anticipated 12 months starting by early Sept 2024, with the possibility of extension, with extended health benefits, including enrolment in the Municipal Pension Plan , and flexible work weeks. The position is in job range G according to our People Policies which has a hiring range of $66,600 – $74,000 depending on experience.

Vantage Point’s main offices are situated on the unceded and stolen lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), S?l?ílw?ta? (Tsleil-Waututh), and x?m??k??y??m (Musqueam) nations, We offer programs and services to non-profits across the lands of over 200 distinct First Nations. All staff members work in a hybrid format. A minimum of two days per week in person at our Vancouver office is expected for this position.
