About the role: We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to join our team. This full-time role has become available as we expand our support team to meet growing needs, and we’re looking for someone passionate about working with SEN students. You’ll be working with Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils, supporting small groups or 1:1 sessions in a class of around 20-25 students. This role stands out due to the incredible support system within the school, including dedicated SEN resources and a collaborative team of teachers and TAs committed to providing the best environment for each child. Your work will directly impact students facing SEMH challenges, helping them flourish both academically and socially. Application Requirements: • Experience working with children with SEMH needs, ideally in a primary school setting. • A strong understanding of behavioral strategies and how to support emotional well-being. • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a team of educators, parents, and outside specialists. • A calm, patient, and proactive attitude to manage challenging behaviors constructively. • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures. • Relevant TA qualifications are desirable but not essential—experience and passion for the role are key! Key Responsibilities: • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, focusing on both academic and emotional development. • Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviors, ensuring a calm and productive learning environment. • Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and adapt lesson plans to suit individual needs. • Monitor and track the progress of SEN pupils, providing regular updates to teachers and parents. • Support with daily activities and lessons, ensuring all children feel included and engaged. Perks and Benefits: You’ll work within a welcoming, collaborative team of professionals dedicated to helping SEN students succeed, with continuous professional development opportunities, including training in SEMH strategies and behavior management. The school is located in Newham, offering excellent transport links for an easy commute. You’ll be part of an inclusive school culture that celebrates diversity, inclusion, and creativity, creating an environment where both staff and students thrive.
