Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Category Manager will support the development and implementation of category strategies to drive sales and profit growth, as defined by senior management as being most important to achieve the organization's annual financial and marketing objectives.

Specific responsibilities:

Negotiate regional business agreements with suppliers, advertising and promotional plans, etc.

Analyze and manage sales reports on a weekly basis and take actions to optimize the performance of the categories.

Develop and monitor category strategies and plans for all elements of the merchandising mix, such as product mix, pricing strategies, promotional mix, promotional events, and corporate brand strategies.

Analyze and update category planograms to achieve targeted growth objectives according to the schedule.

Develop marketing strategies for flyers and beauty catalogs.

Ensure profitability and optimization of wholesale and retail margins for the category.

Manage the budget related to the categories.

Manage retail prices by conducting analysis of indexing versus competition.

Stay up-to-date with new trends and competition to identify opportunities for both products and suppliers.

Provide service and expertise to stores throughout the organization.

Liaise with key departments to ensure product alignment and pricing.

Prepare and provide monthly business updates to senior management.

Analyze AC Nielsen market data and household scan data to measure category trends and leverage opportunities.

Negotiate supplier participation in annual retail sales events.

Communicate with stores regarding category operations and strategies.

Respond promptly and efficiently to stakeholder requests to resolve any issues.

Perform other assigned tasks.

Knowledge, skills, and experience:

College or university degree in a relevant discipline.

Extensive experience in category analysis and management.

Strong business acumen, ability to see the big picture while juggling details.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, bilingual (French/English).

Superior organizational skills.

Excellent strategic planning and negotiation skills.

Ability to effectively collaborate with key internal stakeholders and management.

Support the Director of Marketing and work collaboratively with the category management team to develop and implement category strategies that drive sales and profit growth. The ability to perform in a complex and fast-paced business while keeping key stakeholders informed, including senior management. Attention to detail and the ability to successfully work on multiple tasks simultaneously are essential to achieve desired results.

All aspects of the work require a high degree of confidentiality.

The incumbent of this position will provide daily support to internal and/or external clients outside Quebec and/or in the United States. Therefore, he/she must be proficient in spoken and written English. Please note that the number of positions requiring English language skills has been limited where possible.

Relevant de la directrice de la commercialisation, le ou la gestionnaire de catégorie appuiera l'élaboration et la mise en œuvre des stratégies de ses catégories pour stimuler la croissance des ventes et des bénéfices, tels que définis par la haute direction comme étant les plus importants pour atteindre les objectifs financiers et de mise en marché annuel de l'organisation.
 

Responsabilités spécifiques :

  • Négocier les ententes commerciales régionales avec les fournisseurs, les plans publicitaires et promotionnels etc.

  • Analyser et gérer les rapports de ventes de façon hebdomadaire et prendre des actions visant à optimiser la performance de ses catégories;

  • Élaborer et surveiller des stratégies et des plans de catégorie pour tous les éléments du mix de marchandisage, c'est-à-dire le mix de produits, les stratégies de prix, le mix promotionnel, les événements promotionnels, les stratégies de marque d'entreprise.

  • Analyse et fait la mise à jour des planogrammes de sa catégorie pour atteindre les objectifs de croissance ciblée selon le calendrier.

  • Développer des stratégies de mise en marché des circulaires et carnets beauté.

  • Assurer la rentabilité et de l’optimisation des marges grossistes et détails de sa catégorie;

  • Gère le budget relié à ses catégories;

  • Assurer la gestion des prix de détail en mettant de l’avant des analyses de l’indexation versus la compétition;

  • Rester à l’affût des nouvelles tendances et de la compétition afin d’identifier des opportunités tant au niveau des produits que des fournisseurs ;

  • Fournir un service et une expertise aux magasins à travers l'organisation.

  •  Assurer la liaison avec les départements clés pour s'assurer que tous les produits et l’arrimage des produits et des prix.

  • Préparer et fournir mensuellement des mises à jour commerciales à la haute direction.

  • Analyser les données du marché AC Nielsen et les données de scan à domicile pour mesurer les tendances des catégories afin de tirer parti des opportunités.

  •  Négocier la participation des fournisseurs aux événements annuels de vente au détail.

  • Assure les communications aux magasins en lien avec les opérations et stratégies de ses catégories.

  • Répondre rapidement et efficacement à toutes les demandes des parties prenantes pour résoudre tout problème.

Connaissances, compétences et expérience:

  • Diplôme collégiale ou universitaire dans une discipline pertinente

  • Expérience accrue dans l’analyse et la gestion des catégories de produits

  • Sens aigu des affaires, capacité de voir la situation dans son ensemble tout en jonglant avec les détails

  • Compétences marquées en résolution de problèmes
