Java Developer

Title: Sr. Java Developer Location: Remote Duration: 6+ Months Compensation: $60 -$68/hr Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S. Skillset / Experience: We are seeking a skilled Senior Java Developer to join our team for a critical project aimed at stabilizing a custom application. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in Java development, particularly in the web app and API space. This role requires excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving, as you will be working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure a successful go-live in just a couple of weeks. Key Responsibilities: Stabilize and enhance a custom web application using Java and JavaScript. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions. Work on API integrations and optimize performance for the web app. Participate in planning and execution of the application upgrade from Vaadin 7 to the current version (24). Assist in upgrading Java and Spring Boot frameworks, ensuring compatibility and performance enhancements. Document processes and provide knowledge transfer to team members. Required Skills: Java Development: 5-7 years of experience in Java programming, with a strong background in building web applications and APIs. Web Application Development: Proven experience in developing and maintaining web apps, particularly in the Java ecosystem. JavaScript: Proficient in JavaScript for front-end development and API interaction. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders and team members. Preferred Skills: Vaadin Framework: Experience with Vaadin 7 is essential; familiarity with upgrading to the latest version (24) is a significant plus. Spring Boot: Understanding of Spring Boot for building microservices and RESTful APIs. Upgrade Experience: Previous experience in managing software upgrades and enhancements, particularly within Java applications. Ideal Profile: A proactive Java developer with hands-on experience in web applications, API development, and Vaadin framework. Proven ability to deliver results under tight deadlines, especially in high-stakes projects. A team player who is willing to assist and mentor junior developers as needed.
