Job Requirements / Description

We are seeking an Applications Engineer for a well-established client of ours that supplies Pneumatic and Automation solutions for Process and Industrial Automation. This position will be based in the Vancouver area and will work from a home office and travel (~20%) within the region to meet and service clients.

Responsibilities

  1. Assemble customer application requirements from the Sales team, or directly from customer interaction.
  2. Timely completion of fully engineered application solutions, such as solving advanced engineering problems, servo application sizing solutions, interfacing electronics with 3rd party PLCs, writing PLC code to interface various products, knowledge of Codesys programming environment used on company PLCs & advanced automation troubleshooting.
  3. Effective management of assigned tasks drawn from a centralized task database.
  4. Provide phone and onsite product integration support post-sale.
  5. Directly interface with the customer to solve any electrically related technical product issues.
  6. Ability to diffuse stressful situations calmly and rationally, with a clear success orientation.
  7. Occasional travel within North America can be required upon short notice.

Qualifications

  1. Technical Diploma / Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  3. Strong computer hardware and software experience, including knowledge of AutoCAD 2D and PLC programming skills (preferably Rockwell / Siemens) & machine vision design and integration.
  4. 10+ years relevant technical support experience & mastery of machine automation assembly.
  5. 5+ years relevant pneumatics (design and service) experience.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills and customer orientation.
