POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director will have full responsibility of the Audiology Clinic. This includes working with Otolaryngology admin staff regarding patient scheduling and flow. The Director will oversee developing the annual budget and monitoring income and expenses on a monthly basis. The Director will also be involved directly in patient service, which includes evaluating auditory function of patients, providing rehabilitation for patients, referring patients to other appropriate clinics, and counseling patients on hearing conservation and/or hearing loss. Additionally, the Director will oversee all 4th year Au.D. students and manage the formal externships from Audiology training programs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Requires a doctoral degree from an accredited program in audiology or a related field. Graduates before 2008 may be considered with a Master's Degree in Audiology from an approved program with at least one full-time year of work in audiology.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Requires a certificate of clinical competence in Audiology granted by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association and a current Audiologist license issued by the board of registration for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology in Massachusetts.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of five years clinical experience. Must also have experience supervising clinical staff.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Experience and skill in various aspects of Audiology service delivery with adults and children, including ABR, OAEs, hearing aids, vestibular assessment, and newborn hearing screening.
  • Knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of audiology, basic clinical audiology, audiometry, the psychology of learning, and the principles of human growth and development as applied to speech.
  • Ability to train medical and non-medical personnel in audiology; to plan, assign, coordinate, and evaluate work.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain harmonious relationships.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Proficient with standard Microsoft programs (i.e., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers.

PhD level Audiologist preferred.
