Health And Safety Manager (Highways)

Procter and Street are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and expanding North-West based Civils company operating in the Highway Maintenance sector. Our client is coming up to their 50th year in business, and have built a highly desired client-base, which has been solidified due to the outstanding quality of service they provide. They are looking for an Health & Safety professional to join their growing team who has a wealth of experience within the Civils and particularly Highways sector. The ideal candidate will embody our client’s commitment to delivering a five-star service, and will be instrumental in providing a team of 100+ staff with the knowledge and best working practice required. The role: Acting as a subject matter expert, you will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to advise and improve H&S Management Systems and ensure a safe working environment for all employees on-site. As well as: * Have the ability and knowledge to carry out site safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance and company standards are adhered to. * Provide competent advice on current legislation, policy and procedures to key stakeholders within the business. * Advise and coach managers across the business and promote a Health and Safety culture ensuring regulatory requirements are met. * Develop Risk and Method Statements as necessary and in line with legislation for site operations. * Prepare and communicate health and safety reports to key stakeholders. * Attend internal and client meetings advising on health and safety matters. * Investigate and report on incidents whilst identifying the root cause analysis and course correction where necessary. * Scrutinise existing systems of work to identify opportunities for improvement. As well as: * NEBOSH Construction/General certificate * Working knowledge of ISO standards * Strong technical knowledge of CDM and relevant health and safety legislation * Civils background is highly desirable * Excellent interpersonal skills with proven experience of engaging with clients, contractors, and regulators * Driven individual with strong leadership and influencing skills
