Our client, BioVectra is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Engineering and Maintenance to lead and oversee the technical and strategic operations of our maintenance and engineering departments. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliable and efficient performance of our process and utility equipment to support our operational goals. As the Director, Engineering and Maintenance, you will be responsible for providing oversight and guidance to a dedicated team of managers. Your primary focus will be on the installation and maintenance of process and utility equipment essential for supporting BioVectra’s operational plans. This role demands a high level of technical acumen and leadership to ensure the seamless and efficient operation of our facilities. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will provide leadership in plant and maintenance reliability, aiming to minimize downtime and optimize overall plant performance. You will orchestrate collaboration between staff, students, and departments to ensure the efficient execution of engineering and maintenance tasks. Additionally, you will deliver regular and accurate progress reports to the General Manager, which will include evaluations of project progress, budget status, deliverables, and timelines. You will identify potential project risks and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure project objectives are achieved. Maintaining and enhancing client relationships is crucial, as you will represent the maintenance and engineering departments and drive continuous improvements toward achieving best-in-class performance. Compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is essential, and you will ensure adherence to documentation, change controls, and training within the department. You will also represent the maintenance and engineering departments during regulatory and client audits, instilling confidence in the robustness of our team. You will foster a culture of teamwork and performance, focusing on client and stakeholder satisfaction. Providing leadership, development, and performance management to the maintenance and engineering staff will be among your key responsibilities. You will generate, maintain, and report on unit performance metrics, driving efficiency and improvements. Additionally, you will be accountable for financial and human resource budgeting for the unit, including planning, operating small capital projects, and monitoring performance against budgets. Requirements The ideal candidate will hold a professional engineering degree (P.eng) and have at least seven years of experience in engineering and/or maintenance, preferably within the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, or consumer products industries. A minimum of five years in a leadership role is required. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and people management skills. The ability to work under tight project timelines and manage complex projects is essential. Previous experience managing a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) is preferred but not required. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is also preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project is required, with knowledge of Smartsheet and AutoCAD being a plus. We embrace a culture of belonging in the workplace.
