Duty Station: British Columbia, Canada

Reports To: Sr. Field Technician Manager

Job Summary

A Computer Network Technician at Omnivir is a team player with effective interpersonal skills. They have a client-centric focus, take initiative, use good judgment, and are well organized. They work with a high level of accuracy and great attention to detail while performing repetitive tasks.

An Omnivir Network Technician has excellent oral & written communication skills, along with an ability to work well under pressure, in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Our technicians must be available at least 2-3 days per week, Monday – Friday. Technicians also commute to client sites, and therefore, a personal reliable vehicle is a requirement.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with professionalism, a commitment to excellence, and attention to detail.

Technicians must be available for work at least 2-3 days during weekdays, not weekends or weeknights.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and administer the use of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), mainframe networks and computer workstations, and peripheral equipment
  • Evaluate and install computer hardware, networking software, and operating system software
  • Load computer tapes and disks and install software and printer paper and forms
  • Provide problem-solving services to network users
  • Perform routine network startup and shut down and maintain control records
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade Web-server hardware and software
  • Set up local area networks and connections to the Internet

The Computer Network Technician should also be familiar with and have technical knowledge of:

  • MS Windows
  • Internet
  • Networking software
  • Networking hardware
  • Intranet
  • Servers
  • Desktop publishing software
  • MS Office
  • Desktop applications

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $25.00 per hour

  • Work from home

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

  • Mission, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
