Senior Project Manager, Major Projects (2-year term) Department: Environment and Climate Change The mandate of the Department of Environment and Climate Change is to manage land, water, air, wildlife, and forests. This includes promoting, planning, and supporting the wise and sustainable use of natural resources, and protecting, restoring, and stewarding the environment for the social and economic benefit of all Northwest Territories residents.Job InformationThe Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing the delivery of assessment, remediation and monitoring projects related to abandoned mining and exploration sites, abandoned oil and gas sites, and other abandoned third-party operated sites. This will include delivery of Phase I/II/III Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), site-specific risk assessments, remedial action plans, monitoring plans and other tasks related to these types of projects undertaken by the Contaminated Sites Section. The Senior Project Manager may also be asked to take on other complex and multidisciplinary contaminated sites projects depending on the needs and available resources of the Contaminated Sites Section.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:• Knowledge of theories, principles, methods, techniques and practices related to reclamation and closure of abandoned mine and exploration sites, and abandoned oil and gas sites.• Knowledge of theories, principles, methods, techniques and practices related to Phase I/II/III ESAs, environmental monitoring, site specific risk assessment, and remedial action plans.• Knowledge of environmental, geological and civil engineering principles and how they apply to contaminated site management and remediation.• Knowledge of scientific principles in soil science, geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, biochemistry, toxicology and microbiology and how they impact contaminated sitesTypically, the above qualifications would be attained by:An undergraduate degree from an accredited university in an applicable engineering, geology, geoscience field or an applicable environmental science field, along with a minimum of six yearsof progressively responsible related experience, including those in remediation of mining, exploration and/or oil and gas sites, two years of which in a supervisory role.Eligibility for membership with the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (NAPEG), or other relevant and equivalent professional designations.Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP).GNWT InquiriesInquiries Only:Department of FinanceGovernment of the Northwest TerritoriesYELLOWKNIFE CENTRE 5TH FLOOR BOX 1320 YELLOWKNIFE NT X1A 2L9Tel (867) 767-9154 Extension 14106Fax (867) [email protected] Note: If you do not receive electronic notification confirming receipt of your application, please follow up via telephone. #J-18808-Ljbffr
