Home to around 1,450 residents and the proud Heiltsuk First Nation, Bella Bella offers a unique blend of cultural richness and natural splendour.Despite its remote location, the community boasts access to a regional airport, a BC Ferries terminal, a regional hospital, and various services and recreational facilities, as well as unmatched natural beauty.This is a truly unique opportunity for someone to immerse themselves in a traditional First Nations community while enjoying the pristine beauty of BC’s Central Coast.About the OpportunityThe Hailika’as Heiltsuk Health Centre has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Manager (Hybrid) to join our team in Bella Bella, British Columbia (approximately 2 weeks in-community, 2 weeks working from home), on a contract basis, with the option for full-time for the right candidate.Reporting to the Health Director, you will play a pivotal role in managing all HR activities, ensuring compliance with Health Centre policies and fostering a positive work environment.In this position, you will be primarily responsible for overseeing recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, and strategic HR initiatives.More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:Developing and implementing effective recruiting strategiesScreening candidates and organizing the interview processCoordinating onboarding activitiesMediating workplace conflicts and enhancing employee engagementDesigning and managing performance appraisal processesOverseeing employee benefits programsEnsuring compliance with employment laws and regulationsPromoting diversity and inclusion initiativesTo read the full position description, please click here.About YouIn order to qualify for this role, you must have 5+ years of HR management experience in a non-union environment, with a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Knowledge of an HRIS and the Canada Labour Code, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights, and other applicable employment legislation will also be essential. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.The following skills are essential to success in this role:Proven ability to manage work issues with a background in perilUnderstand and experience in employee benefitsEffective leadership and team management abilitiesDemonstrated understanding of Payworks and Microsoft Office SuiteStrong employee relations and conflict resolution skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbalProactive with time management, planning, and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and collaborativelyProven ability to handle sensitive and confidential informationAbility and willingness to work and travel in-community (approximately 2 weeks in-community, 2 weeks working from home)Cultural competency and knowledge of Heiltsuk traditionsAs our ideal candidate, you will possess strong relationship-building skills, demonstrating integrity and the ability to coach and influence the management team.
