Job Summary:
The Designer works under the direction of the Divisional Design Manager, and in partnership with the Product Manager, delivers a focused and inspiring assortment each season for the assigned product line.
Key responsibilities:
- Translate vision and emerging trends into the assigned product lines based on concept direction
- Maximize sales and gross profits, minimize shuffles and unplanned markdowns (with Product Manager)
- Create and coordinate multiple pieces that aim to satisfy our clientele and corresponds to our brand image
- Work with technical designers, patternmakers, and fit technicians to ensure our clothing corresponds to our specifics.
- Build a relationship with the Buying team that fosters development of innovative, relevant and fashion-forward designs.
- Build a relationship with the Production team that takes into consideration manufacturing limitations, yet pushes our expectations of quality, lead time and price value.
- Research and develop new fabrics, washes, trims and finishes that are within our cost constraints and elevate the brand
- Adhere to design calenda
- Shop international and domestic market for seasonal research
Qualifications:
- DEC or Bachelor Degree in Fashion Design
- Minimum 7 years experience design experience
- Detailed oriented, self-motivated
- Good Microsoft office (Excel, Outlook, Word) skills
- Strong color sense
- Excellent knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop
- Bilingual (English and French)
- Sound judgement and a good understanding of trends and the fashion apparel industry
