Opportunity: The Senior FPGA Engineer will be one of a team of engineers providing services in support of digital (FPGA) and computer-based safety systems. The team has a diverse scope from requirements through to the design and maintenance of systems and products. The nature of the work and the balance of skills within the team is such that there will be an emphasis on providing robust analysis and modelling. Responsibilities: Skilled in complete FPGA design process for safety/ high integrity applications Analysis of FPGA designs and code within existing products Advise on replacement contemporary FPGA devices Creation of new FPGA designs and code to meet specified requirements Assist with integration and testing of FPGA designs and code Production of all necessary documentation to support FPGA designs and code Peer review of technical documentation, drawings and designs produced by others in the team Provide specific technical support to project managers and / or team leaders for projects To carry out all work ethically, safely and in accordance with the relevant standards and best practice within the nuclear industryExperience needed: Degree educated in Electronics Engineering or demonstrable industry experience in an electronics design role A firm theoretical understanding and practical experience of FPGA/ASIC design in chip architecture, coding (VHDL), test benches, simulation, testing, synthesis and place and route Experience in high integrity field preferred (aviation, safety equipment) Exposure to and understanding of the use of major digital electronics families and device categories Use of modern test equipment, e.g. digital mixed mode oscilloscopes, logic analysers and programmable instrumentation Desirable: Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous.For full information, please get in touch
