Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Finance, the Vice-President, Finance will be responsible for the corporate accounting function of Brookfield Asset Management and Brookfield Corporation group of companies.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for this position would include, among other things:

Corporate Reporting

Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting operational functions (including A/R and A/P)

Oversee complex accounting transactions and document accounting treatment;

Coordinate intercompany reconciliations among all business groups;

Manage the budget process;

Respond to daily enquiries from internal or external parties with respect to corporate accounting records.

Preparation of consolidated corporate segment results, including notes, to the global consolidation team;

Preparation of analyses and schedules for management reporting;

Preparation of press release, MD&A, interim report and annual report of certain affiliated listed issuers;

Coordination of internal and external auditors’ requests.

Leadership

Provide mentorship and guidance to the corporate accounting team to perform;

Train and organize staff to complete the corporate accounting function in a timely and accurate manner.

Other duties

Assess current accounting operations and recommend improvement opportunities;

Assist in system implementations;

Special projects as required.

Requirements:  

This position offers excellent opportunities in a dynamic environment.

CPA designation, with at least 7-10 years of progressive financial reporting experience, with no less than 3-5 years in a leadership role in a fast-paced environment;

Experience with IFRS / US GAAP consolidated financial statements preparation and audit;

Strong technical accounting skills;

Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment;

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities;

Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet tight deadlines;

Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and ERP system.
