General/Business Unit Manager (CEO & General Management) About Us: Alzheimer’s WA (AWA) is the leading provider of dementia care services in Western Australia, with a team of approximately 270 staff. We operate from our central office in Subiaco and four support service homes located in Shenton Park, Woodvale, Mandurah, and Albany. In the last financial year, we delivered over 40,000 hours of individual support through Home Care Packages, and our digital presence reached over 280,000 people seeking dementia related information and support via our website. Position Summary: Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and working closely with Senior Executives, Heads of Departments, and Business Unit Managers, the Head of Operations (HOO) at AWA will lead the development and execution of operational strategic initiatives and act in an advisory capacity to the CEO and assist with strategic decision making. This role requires a dynamic and experienced leader committed to uplifting AWA’s operational services. Ideal Candidate Profile: Experience in HOO roles within the aged care sector, with a strong understanding of dementia care and support services. Strong experience and understanding of the aged care or healthcare industry and existing challenges and opportunities. Certified Public Accountant and/or Chartered Accountant qualification and proven analytical skills to evaluate financial data, conduct analysis and forecasting, identify trends and support strategic decision making. Strong financial acumen and a deep understanding of financial principles, accounting practices, and financial analysis, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner. Key Responsibilities: To work with the Board, leadership, and key stakeholders to develop an integrated strategy that is aligned with AWA’s values and goals. Lead in the development of the business plans and ensure their implementation within the organisation. To advise the CEO on operational matters with adequate financial experience to contribute to target setting in terms of revenue, profit, and other key metrics. Develop and implement operational strategies to ensure the effective and sustainable delivery of dementia care services in the community. Oversee the smooth operations of community care and support services, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and best practice. Manage AWA’s budget and resources effectively, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability. Establish and monitor key performance indicators to assess operational efficiency and identify areas for improvement. Prepare appropriate reports and presentations to highlight performance in order to facilitate discussion and ensure sound decision-making. Develop and maintain effective risk management strategies to mitigate any operational and financial risks. Collaborate with funding bodies to fulfil service provision obligations. Stay informed about industry trends, and best practices in aged care services. Provide strong leadership and direction to senior leaders, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, employee engagement, and person-centered care throughout AWA. Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, or Business (or related field). Certified Public Accountant and/or Chartered Accountant qualification.
