Senior Project Accountant

Job Title: Senior Project Accountant Location: Portsmouth (HM Naval Base) Service Area: Finance Hours of Work: 37 Per week What You’ll be doing: Due to internal succession, KBS Maritime now have a Senior Project Accountant requirement to join our dynamic finance team. This specific role will spearhead financial transaction ownership, inclusive of cost allocation, timesheet recording and accruals/prepayments. Leading the revenue cycle from initial recognition through to customer billing, the Senior Project Accountant will also confidently manage, upskill and develop the existing Projects team of three (One Accountant and Two Cost Controllers) Responsible for the preparation of accurate forecasts, you’ll proactively business partner to ensure timely, accurate and insightful provisions and feedback of all project reporting. Additionally, you will deliver the end-to-end accounting support of facilities management and construction projects across Portsmouth Naval Base. You’ll Have: Ideally, you’ll have prior employment experience within the defence sector or construction services (desirable), coupled with exposure to preparing management accounting transactions for a complex organisation. You’ll also have demonstratable experience explaining financial results to non-specialists and you must be highly IT literate (proficient in MS Office suite including Excel, PowerPoint & Word) Familiarity with SAP B1 or experience in other complex ERP systems is also desired, with proven experience to statutory reporting processes, including the provision of information to auditors. To note, you’ll also be a qualified CCAB accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), QBE/PQ may also be considered. About you: Essentially, you’ll have highly developed interpersonal skills, with a positive ability to quickly build rapport with key stakeholders. You’ll also have strong ability in supporting management decision making with actionable commercial insight, have an analytical mindset, and be highly organised and comfortable working in strong control environment. Aligned with the above, you will show willingness to challenge established practice to drive improvements performance and be an advocate of promoting teamwork & collaboration across the organisation. By remaining flexible to an ever-changing changing environment, you will employ a customer centric ‘can do’ attitude within the team ensuring that the customer’s needs are met.
