Transport Planning Manager

We are actively looking to engage transport planning, CI and analytical professionals professionals with as passion for general haulage planning for a new role as a Transport Planning Manager in Alfreton, Derbyshire. Client Details My client is a family run, local, general haulier with over 60 years' of history in the East Midlands general haulage and transport market. You will be joining a fast-paced environment with a mixed fleet of over 100+ HGV & LGV vehicles and a small planning team. This opportunity has arisen due to investment funding being released to help grow the operation within the Midlands haulage market. Job Description As a Transport Planning Manager you will report in to the Transport General Manager on a daily basis. You will be responsible for the following areas for responsibility across the Alfreton, Derbyshire office: * Managing a small team of 5 specialist transport haulage planners. * Overseeing the team responsible for planning up to 500 multi-drop routes per day on a Day 1 for Day 2 and a Day 1 for Day 3 basis utilising planning TMS software and manual planning. * Organising transport through third party transit means via sub-contraction. * Ensuring drivers are operating within WTD regulations and in-line with VOSA regulations. * Monitor transport-related expenses, such as fuel, vehicle maintenance, and labour costs, ensuring operations stay within budget. * Providing appropriate transportation means with adequate load capacity and regulations around ADR, chilled distribution etc. * Oversee the availability, maintenance, and operational efficiency of vehicles within the transport fleet, ensuring compliance with legal and safety requirements. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will have an expansive background in managing / supervising teams within the haulage or transport industry. The ideal Transport Planning Manager will have the following skills and experience: * 5+ year's experience in transport planning * Experience leading or managing teams within a haulage or 3PL transport environment. * Experience of route optimisation and CI projects within a mixed fleet of vehicles. * Desirable experience of transport solutions design. * Excellent customer service experience. * Ideally CPC qualified. * Commutable to Alfreton, Derbyshire on a daily basis.
