Department: SustainabilityReports to: Chief Supply Chain OfficerLocation: North Vancouver, BCYour Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:As the Vice President, Sustainability, you will be our senior most Sustainability leader, reporting into our Chief Supply Chain Officer. You will have responsibility and ownership of Arc’teryx global sustainability strategy and will define and lead our objectives in critical areas like climate, circularity, and impact. You will personally shape and lead the organizational changes required to deliver the global sustainability strategy and foster the culture and values that will help the organization to accelerate our practices. Not only will you work closely with Arc’teryx senior leaders, but you will also work with Amer Sports Group and the sustainability teams of our sister brands to share best practices and maintain collaboration of our common goals. Your role involves orchestrating these goals across the organization and network, fostering a culture of commitment to Arc’teryx vision. In this pivotal position, you will guide Arc’teryx toward a future where sustainability is integral to our success, solidifying our leadership in sustainable practices.This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.Meet Your Future Team:Our Sustainability team operates as a powerful force, seamlessly integrated into various business functions to maximize our impact. We are entrusted with the development of strategies, programming, and the measurement of progress against our sustainability goals. We ensure the integration of sustainability policies, behaviors, metrics, and tools into our business practices, driving positive change at every level.If you were in the Vice President, Sustainability role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:Taking responsibility and ownership of Arc’teryx global sustainability strategy, while maintaining collaboration and alignment with Amer Sports Group, and leading the evolution of a comprehensive, long-term strategy that amplifies positive impact as our organization expands and becomes more complex.Formulating and leading the execution of our sustainability roadmap out to 2028, including the planning and execution of phasing year by year in support of organizational readiness.Lead a high performing sustainability leadership team of direct reports and cross functional leaders who will partner with you in the success of critical areas like climate, circularity, and impact.Act as the cultural leader of Sustainability for the organization, fostering trust and transparency of our sustainability practices throughout the company and acting as an ambassador for Arc’teryx’s core values and behaviors.Collaborating with Arc’teryx senior leadership to seamlessly integrate sustainability into our organizational strategy, including advocating and engaging in challenging conversations to challenge our status quo and navigate change leadership.Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability principles into product development, supply chain management, and corporate operations.Partnering with Amer Sports Group and the sustainability teams of our sister brands to share best practices and maintain collaboration of our common goals.Defining and directing forward-thinking metrics and ensuring consistent, credible reporting on our sustainability initiatives and science-based targets.Partnering with our communications team in developing impactful communications related to our sustainability impact locally and globally.Leading regular risk prioritization and sustainability maturity and materiality assessments following industry best practices.Identifying and implementing necessary processes and tools to uphold environmental impact and human rights principles.Upholding Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing throughout the Arc’teryx supply chain.Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:Spearheading the development and execution of innovative sustainability strategies that position us as the forefront of global sustainability practices.Establishing partnerships with external organizations and industry leaders to advance sustainability efforts and drive industry-wide change.Creating continued future-oriented strategies practices and building and developing team to put vision into action.Are you our next Vice President, Sustainability?You have 15+ years’ experience in leading brand sustainability programs along with a degree in sustainability, environmental science, or other related field, and you likely have advanced education in a focused area.You have strong influential leadership, with the ability to drive alignment across diverse cross-functional stakeholders at all levels of the business.You have a strong understanding of the apparel and gear industry, from product development to material production.You have an in-depth understanding of chemical, materials, and product environmental impacts and are committed to ongoing learning to stay abreast of new research.You have experience with complex project management, including coordinating multi-stakeholder interests and cross-functional teams.You have excellent communication skills - interpersonal, written and verbal.You set a clear vision, align your team around common objectives, and foster commitment to these objectives.You have a proven track record in developing and leading the execution of a multi-year business strategy.You have extreme attention to detail.You have proven business acumen and analytical skills.You are entrepreneurial with the ability to make decisions and take calculated risks.You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions.You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity.You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration.You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement.You seek the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions, with an unwavering commitment to do what is right.Your passion for sustainability is paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it.Compensation: $216,000 - $270,000 a yearA reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$216- CAD$270,000 at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
