Job Description:
TD's Linux Lifecycle team is looking for a Linux system administrator with expertise in Shell scripting and automation background. The selected candidate will participate in day-to-day Change The Bank Lifecycle assignments with a focus on automating repetitive tasks and or working on special projects to deploy or remediate global/sweeping changes, leveraging our various automation solutions such as; Ansible, DCA (HP Server Automation), Salt, VRA, RunDeck and more.
A must: In-depth knowledge of the Linux Operating System especially RHEL and expert coding skillsets for automating OS related repetitive activities via Shell Scripting (Bash, Python, powershell, etc.) and integration with our various automation solutions, experienced with YAML, JSON, Ansible Playbooks .
Change The Bank: (Lifecycle, Changes, Automation, Deployments)
Deployments (code, scripts, installing/configuring), requiring elevated access on behalf of Project, Application Release teams.
Capacity management, physical and virtual. Filesystem resizing, CPU/MEM adjustments.
Decommissioning servers.
Identify opportunities for automation, develop, test and promote automation payloads.
When opportunities present, join projects aimed at evolving the base infrastructure, deploying new technologies, or optimizing the operational environment.
Influence project direction via cross-team collaboration and consulting, foreseeing operational issues and gaps, and proposing solutions
Partner closely with stakeholders to improve production environment stability, ensuring timely and effective communication of possible issues/problems, options and recommendations for prompt resolution.
Present meaningful metrics to support discussions about environmental performance.
Participate in testing disaster recovery plans
Collaboration and Communication (inter-teamwork, documentation, process improvement)
Collaborate with partners to and ensure issues are clearly communicated and addressed consistently with their priorities, ensuring fluid collaboration between all parties
Always stay current on policies, standards and processes, update team members on changes to them and ensures overall adherence both internal and external by actively championing organizational values.
Document, reviews, participates, and implements procedures.
The candidate must hold a range of advanced knowledge of Linux and eager to provide consultative support to other groups
Job Requirements:
Minimum 5-7 years experience as SME/expert Linux/UNIX infrastructure administration in an enterprise environment
Working knowledge of: SME/Expert Redhat OS (RHEL 6,7,8) system administration and support.
SUSE Linux OS
Clustering Technologies (GFS2, GPFS, PCS and Veritas)
Cloud and virtual technologies (VMWare ESX/vCenter, HMC)
Automation/shell scripting (HPSA/DCA, Ansible, Rundeck, VRA/VRO, Salt, python, perl, bash, Ruby, JSON, powershell)
Familiar with Cisco UCS, HP hardware
Understanding of SAN topology, working knowledge of LUN configuration
Networking fundamentals and strong network troubleshooting skills / OS side.
ITIL Foundations preferred
Familiar with Atlassian products such as Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket.
Comfortable working in a rapidly changing, technically complex environment.
Demonstrates strong communications skills (written and verbal)
Proven ability to effectively interact with individuals across business units and at various levels within the Bank (technical, business, including Management).
Must be able to effectively represent the Linux operations team on escalated incident management calls from other groups within Operations.
Understands and adheres to well documented processes.
Experienced working with internal and external auditors on OS related request for information.
Highly organized and possessing strong analytical skills.
Self-motivated, with strong sense of ownership and urgency to deliver in a timely fashion.
Specific Educational Requirements/Accreditations:
College / University with emphasis on computer science and business or equivalent work experience.
IT Industry accreditions not required, but will be considered along with experience
