We offer some of the most vulnerable special school leavers with a curriculum pathway that supports them to prepare for busy and fulfilling lives as young adults.    Personal confidence, resilience and realistic, ambitious futures are part of that, as is reducing reliance on others to promote and encourage choice, preference and self-advocacy.    The role of Senior Health Care Assistant will facilitate and ensure appropriate health and care supports are in place, effective and based on student preference and their support plan.    You will be experienced in working to support those who live with long term health conditions that often rely on delegated health and care tasks to maintain or improve. You will have delivered delegated tasks in the past and be confident to led a small team.   No two days will be the same. Our students love to learn, and gain confidence and demonstrate their independence through a range of measures.    This role is term time only and fixed term to the end of July 2025 Senior Health Care Assistants will plan and manage rotas, to allocate staff resources based on collective and individual student needs. They will take responsibility to ensure physical resources are maintained and fit for purpose in a well-planned manner. This will include liaison with other departments and that physical resources are used safely and appropriately through the necessary training and competency arrangements. Post holders will lead on vacancy management, occupancy and compatibility arrangements, oversight of staff training and student transition planning; they will have oversight of any housekeeping budget in line with the financial procedures of the college and Salutem and to oversee the area finances including auditing student’s individual finances. To advise the duty manager of any issues that might contravene the college or Salutem financial procedures. Hours: 35 hours per week, Term Time Only  Salary: £22,000 to £23,700 Per Annum    Job Responsibilities:  To work within policies, procedures and guidelines to provide excellence in person-centred care and support for students Take part in pre-entry processes to determine compatibility and transition support needs, in consultation with the Head of Care for the service Devise Person-centred Care Plans using the agreed, preferred software, and ensure training of staff, and competency requirements are met within a well-prepared staff team for each shift. Be a named point of contact for students and their parents/carers To provide effective support to the Head of Care of the service, Lead Tutor/Centre Manager and other stakeholders to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of support services. Maintain an audit and service inspection ready residential provision at all times maintaining currency with Ofsted Regulatory Requirements to ensure good or better provision at all times. To uphold the Salutem and college values, celebrating individuality through an open and accessible service, supporting and embracing diversity in staff and students in the context of Keeping Children Safe in Education. To provide direct line management to staff including undertaking appraisals/PDR, supervision, practice checks and mentoring. To support and promote staff to deliver sustainably high-quality services and support for residents. Use HR Policy to support progression, and to challenge poor or marginal performance to improve services and provide consistency for service users. To attend and contribute to Care Leadership and Management Meetings, Area meetings or other meetings where appropriate or required. Undertake the role, duties and training associated with a Designated Safeguarding Officer for Safeguarding (adults and children) Ensure compliance in staff training within the area of responsibility ensuring effective use of appraisal/PDR, and practice supervision monitoring. To lead the recruitment of staff and on-going staff training development in a timely manner to ensure person centred care is well planned and consistent. To participate in activity to support student transition including supporting intake assessments, completing protocols, attending internal meetings and undertaking external assessment visits. To monitor students’ individual support plans, objectives and contracts to ensure that these are in place and being effectively delivered. Ensure effective communication through a range of approved strategies to ensure staff are provided with current and accurate information in a timely manner Plan and monitor the development and revisions of care plans / protocols, Positive Behaviour Plans, including safe and emergency medication across the staff team. Ensure risk assessments are current, in place and understood by stakeholders. To ensure multi-disciplinary working and communication with the many different college teams and external professionals. To write and edit reports or other documents to a standard required by Beaumont College, Salutem or other bodies e.g.commissioners and parents/carers To carry out other duties consistent with a post of this responsibility that may be reasonably requested by Senior Leaders and Managers Any other duty commensurate with the post
