THE POSITION
AWARD Construction Ltd. is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer to join our leadership team. Reporting directly to the President and working closely with the Chief Construction Officer and Chief Financial Officer, the COO is a critical member of the executive team contributing to the development and implementation of AWARD’s company mission, vision, and corporate strategy. The COO is responsible for executing on strategic, operational and performance objectives and leading a culture that attracts, develops, and retains high-performing talent committed to AWARD’s values and culture. Operationally, the COO will drive innovation, performance and profitability across the business.
The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking and growth-oriented leader with proven expertise in operations management. AWARD is looking for someone who is committed to driving results while maintaining high standards of integrity, ethics, and client service excellence. The ability to demonstrate flexibility and lead change and a willingness to be ‘hands-on’ in multiple areas of the business is essential to the role.
Responsibilities & Deliverables
Strategic Leadership: Contribute to developing the organizational vision, mission, and corporate strategy, ensuring alignment with short- and long-term objectives.
Operational Efficiency: Overseeing company operations, project timelines, and employee productivity to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in project execution.
Financial & Risk Management: Measuring and analyzing revenue streams, optimizing business growth strategies, identifying and mitigating risks, and implementing financial procedures to enhance operating capabilities.
Process Improvement: Assessing and implementing improved processes, technologies, and organizational policies to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Talent Management: Managing, coordinating, and developing employees from different departments and locations to build a highly inclusive culture and ensure team members thrive.
Relationship Building: Building and maintaining relationships with industry professionals and organizations to foster partnerships and drive business growth.
Skills, Knowledge, & Experience
10+ years’ progressively responsible experience in operations management. Construction industry experience is considered an asset.
Post-secondary education in a related field.
Understanding of business principles, including financial management, strategic planning, and market analysis.
Ability to lead and inspire teams to achieve strategic objectives, drive operational excellence, and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Open-minded and receptive to new ideas and perspectives with the ability to facilitate innovation and drive change.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to deliver presentations and negotiate contracts.
Detail-oriented and well-organized, with strong planning and organizing skills.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Willing to travel and work flexible hours, as required.
