Head Cashier

Cashiers play a critical role in assisting our customers by providing fast, friendly, accurate and safe service. Cashiers proactively assist customers with their transactions, customer questions and assisting customers find their desired products. As a cashier you are our first and last line of defence in ensuring that they have a positive shopping experience.-- Key Responsibilities: Ensures Customer SatisfactionLead by example in consistently demonstrating GET behaviours and promoting positive associate morale.Ensure sufficient checkouts are available by maintaining lines no longer than one at the register plus two more waiting in lineWalk front end from the customer experience perspective daily, ensuring Grand Opening readiness, ad execution (per Playbook) and flyer readiness.Observe associates and work activity, ensuring appropriate staffing levels to meet business needs Provide associates with the training, information, tools, coaching, guidance, encouragement and recognition needed to meet expectations and/or take on higher levels of responsibility Leading the Front EndCommunicate goals, priorities, and directions from store leadership to associates Ensure the parking lot is shoppable and free of debris Engage back-up cashiers as necessary and assign them to predetermined registers Operate cash machines and train cashiers accordinglyAssist guards for cash collection Maintains Safety, Security and Shrink MitigationFollows all Safety and Loss Prevention policies and procedures.Follows processes on the front-end designed to mitigate shrink and protect assets, ensuring front end associates do the same.Competencies:Customer FocusTime ManagementPromotes TeamworkProblem SolvingCommunicates Effectively Skills:Interpersonal SkillsCash HandlingLeadership SkillsAttention to DetailDirect Manager/Direct Reports:Front End Supervisor Travel Requirements:NonePhysical Requirements:Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items Hybrid Work:DependentWorking Conditions:Working within a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekends.Warehouse environment that can be dusty and noisy.Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes.Minimum Education:Highschool Diploma or EquivalentMinimum Years of Work Experience:1 to 2 years Retail or Cash experience an asset Minimum Leadership Experience:Minimum 1 year leading people Certifications:NA Other Requirements/Assets:NA
