Position Summary Oversee global Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Training (HSEQT) activities by facilitating, developing, and implementing strategies to effectively equip Operations and Executive leadership to lead their respective organizations to achieve world class HSEQT performance. The primary responsibilities of this role will be that of HSEQT influencer (internally and externally), visible Field HSEQT leader, subject matter expert, industry ambassador, owner of best practices, spokesperson, and senior safety advocate - known and respected by industry leadership for the same. Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities Utilize Loss Prevention Systems + (LPS) to achieve HSEQT excellence. Become certified by LPS Inc. as an LPS Core Team member. Become recognized internally and sought after as an LPS subject matter expert. Teach LPS components to the organization. Collaborate with Operations to schedule training so that an appropriate number of workers in the Region are trained. Manage LPS Tools, Assessments, Workshops and LPS Information System so that the organization can utilize these items effectively to reduce losses. Make frequent field visits to evaluate LPS tool use effectiveness in the field, provide guidance and refresher training, and report these results to your Operations colleagues and Sr Leader counterparts. Expected to spend multiple days in the field during most weeks. Guide and promote employee HSEQT performance by developing and promoting safety systems, policies, procedures, safety campaigns, and programs to eliminate, prevent and control workplace injuries and losses. Create and foster a world-class loss prevention culture by using behavioral safety methods to motivate and influence leaders and employees. Advocate on behalf of Total Safety to build positive relationships and reputation with external clients. Act as the senior advisor to the company for compliance with regulatory and company HSEQT requirements by providing support for agency interactions, enforcement actions, permitting applications, reports, and issues. Support facilities in implementing and sustaining HSEQT programs and procedures by ensuring resources, tools and knowledge are available to control HSEQT issues arising from processes, equipment, or other daily operations. Support sites to effectively manage incidents and follow-up response. Ensure that incidents, near-misses and any compliance deviations are fully investigated with operations to ensure that corrective and/or preventive measures are taken based on root cause analysis. Have a working understanding of applicable Workers Compensation procedures, Local or Regional safety laws and reporting requirements, as well as Client EHS databases in order to provide direction and support as needed. Trend safety metrics, communicate results, and develop strategies and specific actions to drive safety improvement. Develop, monitor and assess HSEQT metrics. Present metrics with an assessment of site HSEQT performance with actions to drive improvement in performance. Develop strategies and oversee initiatives for industrial hygiene and key risk reduction programs. Develop, align and implement annual and short-term facility and regional action plans, projects, initiatives, goals and objectives that maintain balance between corporate objectives, business needs, and operations. Provide tactical direction and standardization to sites regarding HSEQT programs and initiatives. Evaluate and manage HSEQT issues and risks arising from operations, incidents, company products and business affairs. Recommend corrective actions; perform technical work, program design and implementation while maintaining clear accountability for outcomes of HSEQT issues. Lead HSEQT talent management within the region, including hiring, developing and retaining site HSEQT staff. Provide coaching and mentoring of HSEQT professionals. Plan, coordinate, and conduct periodic facility audits, surveys, and inspections to identify environmental and occupational hazards, ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and develop recommendations that provide solutions, remedies, or process alternatives. Work with SVP Of HSEQT and others to ensure health, safety, and environmental management systems are developed and implemented in accordance with Voluntary Protection Programs, Occupational Health and Safety Codes, ISO 14001, VCA and/or OHSAS 18000 which drive the Company to a position of worldwide HSEQT leadership. Establish and implement HSEQT objectives into the business planning and performance management processes. Develops and oversees health, safety, and environmental training programs and ensures training is completed according to pre-established schedule. Active participation in industry associations, environmental, health and safety committees, and Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) applicable to the geography to effect fair and equitable legislation and regulations by obtaining and evaluating information on future HSEQT management practices and programs. May be responsible for hazardous waste control and disposal activities including training, collection, disposal, and records maintenance and for conservation programs within the organization. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in an HSEQT-related field from an accredited college or a minimum of ten (10+) years of relevant experience working with Health, Safety, and Environmental issues. Oil and gas industry experience is preferred. Experience: Previous experience managing HSEQT functions in a multi-facility organization. Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience desired. Required Licenses or Specific Training: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and/or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) certification are highly desired. COSS, ASP or other certifications are also valuable. Other Required Skills, Knowledge or Abilities: Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams). Comprehensive knowledge and experience with Certificate of Recognition (COR) elements and certification process. Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian Provincial OH&S. Knowledge of local jurisdiction laws, ordinances, and other rules and regulations associated with facility and employee Health & Safety. Strong organizational and time management skills; must be able to maintain confidential information. Ability to manage large, visible projects and train others. Ability to drive results working across the organization and cross sector, influencing others. Technical knowledge of financial statements. Strong analytical, critical reasoning and problem-solving skills to proficiently interpret results and provide guidance to business partners. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and effective interaction skills with all levels of the organization. Comfortable presenting to executive leadership. Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects. Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily. Interpersonal Communications: Ensures that business initiatives and goals are effectively communicated to employees as appropriate. Demonstrates objective listening on a consistent basis and creates and maintains an environment that encourages open communication. Promotes respect within and outside the work group, teaches and encourages collaborative problem solving and effective working relationships. Coaches and counsels assigned staff to adhere to values, policies and standards and to improve safety, quality and process reliability in a cost-effective manner. Interfaces daily with other functional areas. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Uses hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and climb stairs and ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Travel to different work locations is required. Work Environment May be exposed to possible operations hazards or working in or visiting operational site, including dust, fumes, toxic and caustic chemicals, rotating machinery, high pressure, hot or cold work temperatures, slippery surfaces, water and electrical hazards.
