Design and Release Engineer - Propulsion SystemsLocation: Windsor, ON, CanadaJob Type: Contract Full-TimeIndustry: Mechanical Engineering/DesignPosition ID: 13995Degree Required: DegreeJob DescriptionWe are currently recruiting a Design and Release Engineer – Propulsion Systems to join our team supporting our client in the automotive industry!NOTE:Must live in Windsor, OntarioHybrid Position: 80% remote with 20% in-personMust be willing and able to travel to the USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date. 1 – 2 times per month to corporate facility for meetingsValid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving recordRESPONSIBILITIES:Designing, developing, and releasing components in support of electrified powertrain integrationSupport Electromechanical hardware pressure, temperature, and position sensor developmentWork closely with designers, CAE groups, suppliers, and manufacturing to design components and systems to ensure designs are robust for function and manufacturingScope of responsibility includes product design from concept to launch, components/system packaging, releasing 2D drawings and 3D models, performance specifications, and production product issue resolutionCreating and maintaining the DFMEA and DVP as well as conducting center of excellence reviews for design robustnessInvolved with current production components in addition to future development projectsREQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or equivalent from an ABET accredited universityMinimum three years of engineering experienceBasic understanding of propulsion system calibration and vehicle componentsBasic knowledge of electric motors and gasoline engine operationExcellent communication and presentation skills as well as experience with basic PC software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)Knowledge of hardware release process, DFMEA’s, DVP’s, and root cause analysis methodologiesHighly motivated, self-directed, and ability to manage multiple complex projectsPREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:Master of Science in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited universityAdditional experience in one or more of the following: Vehicle and engine control modules, designing components manufactured from plastic and metal stamping, and/or OEM experience with advanced quality tools such as DFMEA, DVPR, function models, and/or NX CAD skillsExperience releasing components at an OEM or Tier 1 suppliersExperience with 3D FEA and flow analysisGreen Belt in Design for Six Sigma methodologyOTHER PERKS & BENEFITS:Paid Benefits after 90 days (individual and family) – extended medical, out-of-country coverage, dental, etc.Pension eligibility, with employer match, after 1 full year of work (open enrollment every October)MEDA offers an excellent referral bonus.
