Senior Software Engineer (Android)

What's the job? We are going through an exciting period of change and are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Android Engineer with expertise in Kotlin, Android + Kotlin Multiplatform to join our Software Engineering team and work on our greenfield Android KMM programme. Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications Contribute clean code to our new Android codebase Write KMM components to be shared across iOS and Android devices Leverage Jetpack compose for building composable user interfaces Write unit tests to ensure the quality and reliability of the codebase Utilize GitLab for source control management and code reviews Manage platform dependencies and 3rd party integrations Ability to integrate web-views into native views where necessary Work with product managers and designers to understand user needs and implement effective user interfaces Keep up to date with the latest trends and best practices in Android development and share knowledge with the team What you'll bring: At least 5 years of experience developing Android Apps Strong knowledge of Kotlin and object-oriented programming principles Experience with architectural design patterns such as MVVM, MVP, and MVI Understanding of RESTful APIs and web services integration and GraphQL services Knowledge of mobile app security best practices and how to implement them Some knowledge of Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM) Bonus points for: Published articles on LinkedIn/Medium or other platforms Involved in an Android community via membership of online groups or meetups and can demonstrate participation in developer forums Experimented with iOS development Experience with Jetpack Compose Be Customer Focused – constantly improving our customers’ experience I listen to my customers I use available data to help make decisions Be Human – acting with humanity and care I do the right thing I am respectful Be Curious – thrive on learning, thinking beyond the obvious I build and share new ideas I try new things and share my learnings Be Agile – working with trust, pace and agility I have courage to be creative Done is better than perfect, I aim for 80/20 Be Inclusive – acting inclusively in diverse teams to work together I embrace allyship I have self-awareness and a desire to learn Be Accountable – championing the plan to deliver results and growth I own my actions I understand the Kingfisher plan and how it relates to my role At Kingfisher, we value the perspectives that any new team members bring, and we want to hear from you.
