We promote inclusion, balance, and diversity and encourage the development of the skills and abilities of our employees supporting them in all areas of their personal and professional development.Join our innovative, passionate, and dedicated team of highly regarded professionals and help us build the future of Ottawa together.We are currently seeking a Health and Safety Manager, responsible for ensuring compliance with all safety legislation and promoting adoption and compliance on all our sites, developing, implementing, and enforcing policies and procedures as well as planning, training, monitoring, and reviewing the protective and preventative measures required under the Occupational Health & Safety Act, its Regulations and WSIB requirements. You will work closely with the Project Managers and Site Supervisors to maximize site safety and compliance and minimize operational losses, addressing occupational health and safety concerns, incidents, and injuries.Key Responsibilities:Foster and promote a company-wide culture focused on Health and Safety.Conduct regular site visits reviewing compliance, and completing regular reports at all locations.Assist in the development and implementation of site-specific health and safety policies, procedures/practices, and programs to support the prevention of injury and enhance a culture of site safety overall.Coordinate safety training and compliance, inspections, site safety talks, and full health and safety orientation for new site employees (including subcontractors as needed).Conduct detailed incident investigations, assist with the implementation of identified corrective actions, and facilitate all incident close-out meetings.Ensure compliance with legislative standards, Claridge Homes policies and procedures as well as client requirements for all workers on site including subcontractors.Review compliance of site JHSC and any recommendations and reports made.Participate in third-party inspections/investigations such as with The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development, or other.Purchase of safety equipment as required.Continue to advance health & safety knowledge through educational programs.Education and Experience:Post-secondary education in Management or Occupational Health & Safety (or related).Certified WSIB JHSC representative.Must have a good understanding of the Health and Safety Act and Regulations and WSIB Act.A minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in managing health and safety within the construction industry/environment with multi-site experience.Valid drivers' license, and safe vehicle.Ability to travel to Project Sites on a regular basis.Skills and Abilities:A team player; who values communication and can operate effectively with peers.Exceptional organizational and time management skills.Excellent meeting and training facilitation skills.Excellent interpersonal relationship development skills.Claridge Homes is committed to being an Equal Opportunity Employer.
