OCCASIONAL CATHOLIC TEACHERS
SYSTEM
Mandatory Requirements:
Qualifications to teach in Ontario
Current Membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
Basic Qualifications in the Primary, Junior, Intermediate and/or Senior Divisions
Completion of the following forms: Priest Reference Form from a Roman Catholic Parish, Faith Reference Form and Reflection Paper from NPSC’s Teacher Application Package
Preferred Requirements:
French as a Second Language Part 1
Special Education Part 1
A repertoire of current instructional and assessment strategies
An understanding of the Ontario Catholic Curriculum and effective strategies to teach literacy and numeracy
Proven ability to teach French-as-a-Second Language would be considered an asset
Knowledge of and experience in implementing balanced literacy and the use of student data to drive instruction
Knowledge and experience in utilizing student learning management systems such as Google Classroom, Google Meet as well as additional G-Suite digital tools and EDSBY, to facilitate instruction and effective communication with parents
Proven ability to implement effective classroom management strategies
Knowledge of and familiarity with the school environment would be an asset
