Position Summary: Reporting to the Manager Internships and Student Affairs Office, develops applicant recruitment, yield and student retention plans as well as organizes recruitment events and develops projects to attract prospects for the Faculty of Education undergraduate and academic programs. Creates initiatives with the aim of increasing the diversity of incoming student cohorts. Advises current students and shares the undergraduate student affairs responsibilities within the Internships and Student Affairs Office. Major Responsibilities: Develops applicant yield and student retention plans to attract prospects and increase enrollment to Faculty of Education. Develops and executes recruitment plans for designated markets in order to achieve enrollment targets. Manages the student recruitment function in the Faculty and ensures successful implementation of initiatives and monitors the results of implementation. Plans and delivers special events, projects and presentations to support Faculty of Education recruitment initiatives with the purpose of promoting awareness of the faculty’s 79 programs and generating inquiries and applications. Promotes Faculty and its programs by attending recruitment events, high school and CEGEP visits. Highlights undergraduate and graduate programs in need of added recruitment support, particularly those affected by the tuition increases. Nurtures the growth of the B.A.(Education); Major in Education in Global Contexts program, B.Ed. programs, and with any prospective government-prescribed teacher education programs. Adjusts current marketing efforts to better attract Quebec students through increased bilingual content. Manages the reporting and analysis for data-driven decision-making for recruitment and enrollment. Develops reports related to student enrollment and retention and provides recommendations into how to grow those metrics. Oversees the assessment and evaluation activities with prospective and current students, alumni, and administrative and academic staff. Provides recommendations as well as works with the Dean, Associate Deans, and other Faculty high-level leadership for planning and to provide insight into enrollment numbers. Acts as Faculty primary liaison with McGill Enrolment Services, Future Students Unit, Campus Life and Engagement, and McGill Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Utilizes effective prospect management practices to follow up on inquiries, applications, and admitted students, ensuring their enrollment is completed successfully. Ensures outreach to different groups by targeting underrepresented populations and creating initiatives for increased accessibility to students from diverse backgrounds. Champions new and builds up underdeveloped recruitment initiatives as well as expanding reach existing undergraduate and graduate recruitment/yield programs/projects/activities. Attends recruitment and yield events. Advises prospective students on admission eligibility criteria and further stewards them, by directing them to the right program and potentially pre-screen applicants. Develops marketing campaigns in collaboration with the Faculty’s Marketing and Communications Officer and produces engaging digital and print recruitment materials particular to designated markets. Cultivates prospective student engagement via the Faculty’s multiple social media pages/profiles. Supervises the Student Recruitment Associate including casuals. Performs other duties as required to support the overall recruitment and student affairs operations of the Faculty. Qualifying Skills and Other Responsibilities: Experience with the development and implementation of student recruitment and retention strategies, plans and initiatives for diverse populations. Knowledge of the Quebec university, college, and school educational system, admissions criteria and Faculty university programs, previous interaction with secondary school aged students, guidance/educational counselors, or teachers preferred. Experience advising potential students on admissions criteria and current students. Knowledge of the student life cycle is an asset. Proven experience organizing recruiting events locally and out-of-campus venues. Direct supervising experience. Oral communication skills to present detailed information concisely and clearly, public speaking and/or making effective presentations. Ability to analyze and interpret information and recommendations. Effective interpersonal and public relations skills, dealing courteously and effectively with people, tact and diplomacy. Excellent organizational skills, working independently as well as within a team, and setting priorities. Excellent written communication skills. Exercising good judgment and initiative, working effectively under pressure of time constraints. Knowledge of Banner, Minerva, Student Teaching database and SQL. Be highly proficient in the relevant McGill software for reporting and analysis for data-driven decision-making for recruitment such as Power BI, Tableau, Minerva, Slate, etc. General advising or counseling skills, and ability maintaining confidentiality. Experience working in a PC environment using databases, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, email, and web tools. Valid Quebec Driver’s license. Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
