At VCM, every project is a community milestone, a testament to our collaboration and pride. Job Profile As a construction estimator at VCM, you will play a crucial role in our operations. You will be responsible for estimating take-offs, which involves quantifying all the materials, labor, and equipment needed to complete a construction project based on the project plans and specifications. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our projects. What You Will Do: Determine project scope of work and complete project estimates using designated estimating software. Break down bid documents to delineate the full scope of work for VCM, subcontractors, and suppliers. Collaborate with the estimating team and operational staff to develop thorough estimates. Analyze design criteria and identify and develop constructability requirements. Qualifications/Experience: 10+ years of construction-related experience, including field and estimating roles that will include commercial, municipal, and/or large projects such as educational institutions. Technical degree/diploma/certificate in construction is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and estimating software is an asset. Advanced knowledge of cost estimating, engineering, design, construction practices, and procurement. Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil estimating disciplines. Familiarity with current trade definitions, building codes, permitting, and inspections. You are a collaborative team player while excelling when working independently, demonstrating initiative, and delivering results with minimal guidance.
