See below for further instructions.Conditions of Employment:Must be legally entitled to work in CanadaMust provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check - Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Enhanced Internal Security Check - Level IVMust possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5F Driver’s LicenceAbility to travel to other court centres and circuit court locations by car, airplane and other means of transportation with the possibility of overnight staysAbility to work overtime as necessary with little noticeAbility to lift and transport related equipment weighting up to 14 kgs/30 lbsMust qualify for an appointment as a Staff Justice of the Peace pursuant to statutory requirementsQualifications:Essential:Experience performing administrative or clerical duties preferably in a legal or court related environmentExperience working with and processing complex documentationExperience interpreting and applying policies or legislationExperience providing leadership in a team-based environment including presenting and acting as a positive role modelExcellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills using sound judgmentStrong organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet workload demands or deadlinesExperience working with confidential information and using discretion when handling private and sensitive materialExperience working independently with a strong ability to take initiative under minimum supervisionAbility to resolve conflict using effective interpersonal skillsExcellent verbal communicationExcellent written communicationProficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, and Excel) or similar softwareDesired:Experience working with court related data base applications (such as CCAIN, QB Registry and CON)Supervisory experience such as attendance and performance management, employee development/coaching and recruitmentDuties:The incumbent will be responsible for the overall administration and supervision of a regional court office, including working collaboratively with the Administrator to provide leadership and support to court staff, specifically the Court Clerk/Exhibit Control program area. The incumbent will provide training, scheduling and overseeing the workflow of staff who attend court in the courtroom and circuit court locations. The incumbent also holds the designation of a Deputy Registrar and Staff Justice of the Peace. As a Deputy Registrar, they will review and process documents under the King’s Bench Rules, various federal/provincial Statutes/Acts and Regulations, register and issue all court pleadings and processes in all divisions of the Court and enter pertinent information on the Registry system according to a standards manual. As a Staff Justice of the Peace, duties include receiving information, issuing process and determining issuance of subpoenas, assuring the accuracy and completeness of court issued documents, reviewing and signing court orders for offenders, applicants and respondents, explaining court procedures and preventative justice programs to the public. As Clerk of Court, the incumbent must prepare dockets and documents arising from the proceedings, attend Provincial Court to clerk, and monitor and maintain a record of proceedings for all matters before the court.
