Job Description
In joining the Assystem Environment Consents & Engagement Practice as an Environmental Consultant, you will form part of our established Environmental Management service offering.
Environmental Consents Specialist - Hybrid role (minimum of 2 days/week in Midlands area (Coventry / Kenilworth / South Birmingham) with travel & subsistence allowance if required)
An Environmental Consents Specialist is sought to support the process of obtaining the necessary noise and water Environmental permits, licenses and consents associated with the delivery of HS2, the high-speed railway project. Reporting to the Environmental Consents Manager, this multi-faceted role would suit a naturally communicative, proactive and organised individual who would relish the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders in ensuring all required consenting obligations are acted upon to ensure construction works progress to programme.
Responsibilities:
Identification of the necessary Environmental permits, licenses and consents
Coordination and/or assurance of specialists' input to obtain all identified Environmental Consents as required
Liaison with Local Authorities, Environment Agency, Canal & River Trust (CRT) and other Consent Granting Bodies (CGB) as necessary to deliver consents as required by the construction programme
Provide feedback as required to delivery teams regarding environmental obligations as relevant to the consenting process
Record all communications with third parties as evidence to support consent process
Contribute to the development of knowledge within Construction teams and in the monitoring process to assist in ensuring consent compliance
Profile
Preferred background:
Experience of obtaining noise and water Environmental permits, licenses and consents
Experience of effective communication with the relevant CGB
Experience in managing the Environmental Consents process on a major development scheme and/or major infrastructure project
Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams on complex projects
Awareness and understanding of current Environmental legislation and, ideally, the HS2 Act
Proven record of working effectively on the environmental aspects of major projects, including securing Consents in a timely manner and ensuring compliance
Degree level qualification
Membership of an Environmental Institute such as IEMA or equivalent
Qualifications
BSC in environmental field, 2+ years experience working in an environment / consents role
