Legal Counsel – Export Control

1 + years | St-Jean-sur-Richelieu (Hybrid) Our client, Rheinmetall Canada, a part of the German Rheinmetall Group, one of Europe’s largest suppliers of systems and equipment for the armed forces, is seeking a Legal Counsel specializing in export control. Established over 35 years ago, the company is well-recognized in the Canadian defense industry, providing innovative solutions for vehicle systems, tactical systems, and electronic solutions. To meet their needs, they are looking for a lawyer or legal advisor with expertise in export control. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and preparing applications for permits to export controlled goods. Collaborating with various business departments, you will ensure the company’s practices comply with relevant regulations and serve as the primary resource for questions related to your expertise. You will become familiar with laws and regulations governing international trade affecting the company’s activities, including ITAR regulations, and adapt these rules to the company’s daily operations. Additionally, you will contribute to developing models and processes, participate in strategic compliance initiatives, and may be required to provide internal training. To qualify, you must have experience in export controls. Knowledge of relevant regulations or the transportation and customs sector, as well as familiarity with regulatory compliance, will be considered significant assets.
