This posting is in anticipation of current and future part-time teaching opportunities starting as early as September 2024. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Human and Justice Studies with a flexible schedule and ability to teach in-person classes, the part-time Professor will facilitate the delivery of courses within the above programming incorporating a variety of teaching, learning and assessment strategies, which are designed to successfully meet the needs of learners.

- Builds on and develops syllabus and course material, based on existing course outline and teaching materials which becomes part of the course teaching material used by future faculty.
- Ensures course teaching materials are current, relevant, and reflect the best practices within the relevant professional/program disciplines.
- Creates an effective environment for learning which accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles.
- Develops and implements course learning outcomes and alternative delivery strategies, ensuring that support and reflect program goals.
- Assures that students are aware of all relevant learning outcomes, learning strategies, deadlines, and assessment techniques.
- Assesses student achievement of learning outcomes and supports student progress through individual tutoring, academic counselling, and timely feedback.
- Develops multi-media materials and alternative delivery strategies and incorporate appropriate educational technologies into the learning process.
- Liaises effectively with internal and external partners to create and maintain a collaborative and relevant learning environment.
- Uses the learning management system to support learner outcomes.
- A relevant combination of education and experience normally acquired through a degree in an Early Childhood Education/Child Studies discipline with 5 years of recent, relevant and progressive industry experience and previous post-secondary teaching experience.
- Must be a Registered ECE in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- A demonstrated ability to create a safe and inclusive space that meets the learning needs of a diverse student population
- A demonstrated ability to develop and deliver innovative and engaging learning activities
- A demonstrated understanding of the principles of adult learning along with experience teaching adult learners and developing curriculum; previous teaching experience particularly in the college environment is an asset
- A demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative environment as evidenced through a strong network of contacts with other professionals, agencies, and employers
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills

- Advanced computer literacy and a demonstrated willingness to acquire and use learning tools (such as Loyalist’s “Canvas” System) commensurate with departmental requirements

- Excellent grounding in best practice and emerging knowledge, skills and attitudes in the field
- An ability to apply an understanding of diversity and inclusiveness to meet the needs of a diverse student population
