The Ontario Cannabis Store provides safe, responsible access to recreational cannabis for adults 19 and older. We operate the sole legal online store for recreational cannabis in Ontario and we are the provincial wholesaler of cannabis for private retail stores.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Product Management to join our Applications & Development team! The Senior Manager, Product Management will lead the execution of digital transformation initiatives. The Senior Manager, Product Management will translate the organization’s operational plans and abstract strategic initiatives into reality. In addition, they will lead the Product Managers to shape the vision for new and robust solutions while managing cross-functional agile teams.

About Your Day

  • Facilitate the gathering of business requirements and business analysis for both strategic and IT led initiatives across multiple disciplines (merchandising, supply chain, finance, and etc.)
  • Prioritize work within projects and initiatives, as well as clearly communicate priorities to stakeholders by tailoring to the audience
  • Review and ensure that the requirements gathered, and user stories created by the product managers accurately reflect the needs and pain points of the project sponsor
  • Collaborate with Engineering team to evaluate solutions to ensure that the proposed solution meets business requirements
  • In conjunction with HR; Hire, develop and inspire a highly qualified team of professionals
  • Provide coaching on agile/waterfall best practices
  • Foster a culture of innovation, transparency and accountability within the department and throughout the OCS
  • Ensure that the team has the competence and skills to execute business-critical projects by partnering with L&D to create learning plans
  • Build and direct a high performing team that consistently meets or exceeds expectations by assuring process compliance, ensuring appropriate training and feedback, and working with leadership to ensure team engagement
  • Develop and maintain a plan that provides for succession and continuity in the most critical positions within the department
  • Build effective relationships and partnerships with all the lines of business areas by proactively providing leadership and direction across all aspects of their portfolio technology deliverables, costs and future opportunities
  • Provide advisory services regarding processes, tools and approaches specific to the capabilities of our existing platforms
  • Continually assess the OCS’s system capabilities, resources and external landscape to develop roadmaps, select scenarios and choose products and partners to meet the IT Strategy and the business strategy
  • Communicate Leadership updates and messages effectively and conduct regular Team meetings and 1:1 meetings with Direct Reports
  • Ensure that the team has the competence and skills to execute business-critical projects by partnering with L&D to create learning plans

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years’ experience in a Business Analyst/Product Owner or Consulting role
  • 3+ years of experience managing teams
  • Demonstrated work experience with owning a suite of products and defining a successful long-term product strategy and vision
  • Experience in working with teams operating in Waterfall (Software Delivery Lifecycle) and Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP) as well as tools (ex. JIRA and Confluence)
  • Experience with web services and service-oriented architectures in a complex enterprise environment
  • Certified Product Owner is preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of Product Management principles and processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen with strategic, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong understanding of non-functional requirements including performance, scalability, resilience, usability, accessibility, security, and business continuity
  • High-level understanding of scalable distributed systems and cloud-based technologies (i.e. MS Azure)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio, Project, as well as any other Project Management tools (Jira and Confluence)
  • Excellent understanding of using and integrating Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Product Information Management (PIM), Digital Asset Management (DAM), Product Lifecycle Management, and Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions is an asset

About the Job

  • This position currently offers a hybrid work schedule. The current in office requirement is a minimum of 3 days/week (may be more depending on business needs). The OCS office is located near York Mills and Yonge Street. However, OCS reserves the right to change this policy and its office location at any time.

  • Required Travel: Rare, usually within the GTA

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $125,000- $145,000. This is a pay grade 8 role, with a salary range of $ 93,757.39 - $ 145,670.28. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
