Fire and Security Engineer

Job Title: Fire and Security Engineer Location: Manchester, United Kingdom Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role: My client are seeking an experienced and multi-skilled Fire and Security Engineer to join their team in Manchester. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, servicing, and maintenance of a variety of fire and security systems, including fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems. You will work across a range of sectors, including commercial, residential, and industrial properties, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and delivering exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities: Install, commission, and maintain fire alarm systems, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems. Conduct regular testing, inspections, and preventative maintenance of fire and security systems to ensure they meet industry standards. Diagnose and repair faults and system issues promptly and efficiently. Perform on-site risk assessments and surveys to recommend appropriate fire and security solutions. Ensure all work adheres to British Standards (e.g., BS 5839, BS EN 50131) and other regulatory requirements. Provide technical support, guidance, and training to clients on the operation and functionality of fire and security systems. Maintain accurate documentation, including service reports, maintenance records, and certification. Work closely with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality service and build strong client relationships. Participate in an on-call rota for emergency response and support when required. Qualifications and Experience: Proven experience as a Fire and Security Engineer or in a similar role, with expertise in fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems. Strong technical knowledge of fire and security equipment from various manufacturers. Ability to diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues, and carry out repairs to a high standard. Familiarity with relevant British Standards and industry regulations. Excellent problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented approach. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. Full UK driving license is essential. Desirable: Relevant certifications (e.g., FIA, BAFE, NSI, or SSAIB). Experience with IP-based and networked fire and security systems. Knowledge of emergency lighting systems and integrated security solutions. ECS/CSCS card or equivalent safety certification.
