Mechanical Design Engineer
Our client is a leading manufacturer and distributor of industrial products and equipment, dedicated to delivering high-quality products and services to their customers. We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their Product Development and Design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing mechanical systems and products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions, ensuring that projects meet quality, safety, and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development:
Develop detailed mechanical designs using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
Create 3D models, engineering drawings, and specifications for new products and components.
Perform simulations and stress analysis to validate design integrity.
Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and performance.
Prototyping and Testing:
Oversee the fabrication of prototypes and coordinate with vendors and manufacturers.
Conduct testing and analysis to validate design concepts and prototypes.
Identify and troubleshoot design issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Project Management:
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion.
Collaborate with project managers to define project scope, schedules, and milestones.
Provide technical support throughout the product development lifecycle.
Documentation and Compliance:
Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including technical reports, specifications, and BOMs.
Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless integration of designs into production.
Support marketing and sales teams by providing technical insights and product information.
Interface with customers and suppliers to gather requirements and address technical queries.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Professional designation with APEGA
Experience:
5-10 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably relating to industrial equipment
Proven track record of successful product design and development.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and simulation tools.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, casting) and materials selection.
Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g., ASME, ISO).
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
