The Vice Dean leads the division with the Dean, creating and executing a vision for the portfolio to make significant impact for the college and the health system. The Vice Dean reports to the Dean, is responsible for managing Faculty operations and providing strategic leadership within the faculty and at the college level. As second in command, the Vice Dean will be called upon to provide Faculty leadership in the absence of the Dean.The Vice Dean maintains strong internal liaison, ensuring the faculty’s program quality, enrolment, resources, and student success needs are shared with colleagues. This position also ensures the operational and strategic support is provided by the Faculty to move college priorities forward.The Vice Dean also has an external focus working with stakeholders and representing the College on external higher education and content specific forums, especially as it pertains to program quality and the student experience. This external liaison role is critical to remaining a leader in our fields of subject matter expertise, professional contribution, strategic partnerships, contract negotiations, and innovative programming.HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:The Vice Dean works with the Dean, other senior administrators, chairs, faculty and staff to establish and implement college wide and faculty goals and objectives to ensure there is an effective, quality driven, and innovative learning environment. The Vice Dean is accountable to the Dean for fiscal planning, management within the faculty, program approval with regulated bodies, Work Integrated Learning within the division, and the simulation centre. Special projects, contract administration, internal and external networking and internal and external committee involvement are ongoing work for this position.Evaluation of educational strategies, programs, practices and initiatives will be overseen by this role to ensure success of student, faculty and staff needs.This position also plays a crucial role in supporting, upholding, and leading college initiatives as outlined in the College’s strategic plan. Ensure a strong understanding of appropriate legislative requirements is maintained in order to adhere to compliance and accurate reporting within NorQuest College.WHAT YOU BRING:A Master’s Degree is required, preferably in a related health field.Progressive experience in senior post-secondary administration.Experience in program development and administration.Knowledge and understanding of issues affecting Indigenous people, Newcomers, and other excluded populations.Teaching experience in a post-secondary environment; preference will be given to candidates with experience in teaching equity seeking groups.Thorough understanding of the theory and practice of adult learning.Superior organization, collaboration, conflict resolution, critical thinking, problem solving, time management and facilitation skills required.Excellent communication, collaborative, and leadership skills.Creativity and analytical ability.Persistence and flexibility in a complex, rapidly changing environment.Ability to develop internal and external partnerships.Working knowledge of computer applications (specifically, MS Office suite, including Teams and Microsoft BI).Working knowledge of project management is an asset.Working understanding of competency-based credentials would be an asset.Experience with Change Management.Knowledge and understanding of issues affecting Indigenous people and other equity seeking groups.WHAT MAKES YOU A DIFFERENCE MAKER?Your ability to:Develop and deliver innovative programs within a regulatory framework including quality assurance measures.Fulfill the division’s operational plan, including measures and reportingMeeting the targets of the college’s enrolment plan;Preparing and operating within an approved budget;Meeting alternative revenue targets;Implementing the Academic Plan;Inspire and grow faculty led research and innovation; and other roles and projects as required.Facilitate strategic planning and implementation within the program area and contribute to the college planning.Provide Faculty and college leadership to specified programs, committees, projects and initiatives.Establish and maintain connections with stakeholders related to adult education and Faculty areas of specialization. This entails participating in various working groups, boards, forums and knowledge sharing and mobilization events. Represents the college on relevant groups, at conferences and in special sessions as assigned.Works closely and collaboratively with the Program Managers to ensure consistency and success of the Faculty and with the other Vice Deans to ensure consistency and success of the Academic portfolio.Lead the establishment of applied research, alternative revenue opportunities, innovative partnerships and contract training initiatives that align with the college’s mandate, vision, and educational goals.Create systems and processes that empower leaders and support equity seeking groups.Provides leadership in the absence of the Dean.SALARY: $114,556 - $143,224 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time permanent position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.We offer flexible work options.
