The team values a flexible work environment, a laid-back office culture, and working with great people.We are looking for a software engineer to join our team who is passionate about contributing to the design, development, and testing of our software platform.Duties & Responsibilities:Participate in architectural discussions related to achieving the product visionPerform software engineering in a team environmentParticipate in a Level 4 support rotationManage the day-to-day priorities of the development teamCommunicate with stakeholders and product managers to prioritize new features and technical improvementsBreak down features into Epics and Stories in JiraOrder Kanban swim lanes to reflect set priorities and keep the backlog healthyRun refinement meetings and release retrospectivesIdentify gaps in knowledge sharing and document processesAssist with hiring and training new employeesRecommend and manage the balance between new features and technical debtQualifications/Experience/Skills:The ability and desire to quickly learn new topics and frameworksKnowledge of Linux system installation, configuration, and maintenance2+ years experience leading a development team and 5+ years experience as a developerExcellent written and verbal communication skillsHighly organized and process-drivenStrong problem-solving skillsStrong understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and design patternsPreferred Skills:Knowledge of Python and DjangoKnowledge of CKnowledge of event-driven and Linux network socket programmingKnowledge of IP networking, particularly good working knowledge of principles and protocolsFamiliarity with REST APIs and microservicesKnowledge of version control with GitExperience with Agile methodologiesDisciplined approach to testing and quality assuranceCompensation:Equal opportunityA flexible work environment at the officeExtended medical and dental benefitsESOPOffice Locations:Vancouver, Canada and Halifax, Canada #J-18808-Ljbffr
