Staff are committed to helping children, youth, adults and their families to strengthen their relationships and build connections within their communities.About the OpportunityThe Director of Human Resources reports directly to the Executive Director. As the Director of Human Resources, you will lead the Human Resource team and maintain full oversight for workforce planning, recruitment and retention, compensation and benefits, total rewards, employee engagement, performance management, professional development, policy, and coaching to help influence and execute business objectives. You will be an integral member of the management team and contribute and apply your knowledge and expertise on strategical, operational, and tactical levels. Most of the work will reside at the tactical level; however, strategic implementation of new processes and systems are an important part of the role.The Ideal CandidateYou are passionate about wanting to influence the betterment of the lives of youth, adults, and families within the community. You develop strong internal and external relationships and partnerships with your team, the organization, vendors, volunteers, and partners.Roles and ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Administrative:Keep abreast of human resources trends and latest best practices for potential application to the organization.Collaborate with human resources directors in other McMan locations for best practice and integration of services and software.Research annual salary surveys, benchmark company compensation, advise and develop salary grids / ranges, recommend annual salary increments.Collaborate with the managers and supervisors in the development of job descriptions and ensure they are updated on a regular basis.Ensure adherence to employment standards, labor laws, internal human resources policies, and advise on any changes or improvements.Provide support to Occupational Health and Safety activities such as policy development, claims, and investigations.Work with the management team to identify strategic direction and communicate and implement such information with organization managers.Prepare, present, and monitor the annual budget for the human resources department.Plan, develop and prepare communications materials related to human resources programs.Work with senior leadership to develop and implement human resources plans and solutions to improve performance, retention, employee experience, achieve strategic business initiatives, and deliver progressive results.Employee Relations:Create a safe and open environment for employees to share workplace concerns.Maintain a strong focus on employee relations, performance management, engagement and retention strategies, and activities.Advise on and assist with the interpretation and administration of human resources policies, programs, and best practices.Foster and advise on employee relations best practices that create positive workplace with a high level of confidence, satisfaction, and motivation.Investigate employee complaints and concerns.Develop, recommend, and oversee employee satisfaction surveys. Analyze and report on the results along with any recommendations that may be appropriate.Oversee and support the implementation of the performance management system.Help build leadership capabilities amongst management through coaching and/or program development.Education and Staff Development:Advise and direct new hire orientation and on-boarding procedures with respect to the organization and for the specific departments.Conduct training needs analyses to implement required training and development programs and succession planning within the organization.Recruitment & Employee Performance:Oversee the establishment and implementation of recruitment procedures and practices aimed at attracting, screening, validating, and securing quality candidates.Support any employee selection committees or meetings.Provide oversight on workforce performance matters and trends.Education and ExperiencePost-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Professional designations such as CPHR or similar is preferred.Eight years progressive human resources experience with at least five years at a senior and supervisory level.Experience in an organization with greater than approximately 50 employees.Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills.Strong knowledge of employee relations practices, employment standards, laws, and regulations.McMan South is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and recognizes that a diverse staff benefits and enriches the work environment and contributes to organizational excellence.
